They don't have a halfway normal person to put forward. 

It needs to be someone who's got at least enough name band recognition to have a chance - there's 4 months left, its a little too late to be introducing a no name.  And who've they got that's normal and not far left? Not much.  

I think if i were them i'd make peace with the fact they're going to lose the main election and start thinking about the congress and senate. They can pick a candidate that would show trump in a negative light and even if that candidate loses they might drive a lot of people to the dem senators and congress as a 'counterbalance'. 

If trump gets in controlling both those houses - the dems will be mauled in the whirlwind.
