Banks want to lower inflation by not reporting it.

TLDR -  The BoC has to raise interest to fight inflation - which drives up the cost of shelter.  So if we stop including shelter in the Consumer Price Index and ignore it then our inflation will look lower and the banks won't have to raise rates!!!!

that is seriously what they are saying.  They are trying to pass this off as a rational argument.  "If we just say inflation is lower than it is then it will go away".

BTW - they already exclude shelter inflation from some of the key "volitile" markets.

A lot of people have said inflation is higher than is being reported and for the average person they're probably right. They try a number of tricks to help minimize the appearance of inflation officially but the average person can't avoid the hit.

Meanwhile a lot of people have tried to trick everyone into believing it's all about carbon taxes.

Figures lie and liars figure.

Can you point to ANYONE ANYWHERE who has said that inflation is ALL about carbon taxes exclusively?

I think everyone agrees they play some role in inflation - where were you seeing anyone say it's ALL about carbon taxes?

You .. ah.. you weren't lying again were you? Naaaaaaahhhhh  :)

Topic title is wrong.

The link is "Canadian Banks are Pushing for the Bank of Canada to Remove Shelter Costs From CPI"

The banks do not "want to lower inflation by not reporting it.", just the shelter charges. And that is because the shelter charges are skewed based on location.

Shelter charges are part of inflation. the banks want to lower the inflation rate by not reporting all the inflation,

Title is right - you're not so right.

Yes. If you remove shelter costs from the CPI - then you're not reporting them in the CPI.  That's what "remove" means :)

Maybe 'newspapers' are a little too advanced for you just yet - let me see if i can dig up a archie comic or something.

Bottom line is that your topic title was false...like so many of your posts.

Maybe your ability to read and pass on the actual newspaper heading is too advanced for you??

Bottom line is it was accurate, and you're just bitter  about it.  I don't really know why.

The banks want the inflation rate to be lowered by removing the reporting of shelter.  That is a true statement and what the article says.

Thanks for playing.

Fck, you are such a loser.

Your topic headline is not what the link headline is.. You even admit it. You even use the real statement and admit it is true but your topic is misleading.

All you ever do is twist and lie about things. What a friggen loser and getting worse every post. even a computer AI has figured out what a loser you really are LOL

Regardless, as normal, it is a non story posted by cdnfux.

Why would it be. It's actually pretty rare around here for the title of the thread to match the title of the article - in fact i think i'm just about the only poster who actually does that regularly at all.  Or ever for that matter.

It is, however, entirely accurate. And that was your complaint - that my title was wrong because "The banks do not "want to lower inflation by not reporting it.", just the shelter charges. And that is because the shelter charges are skewed based on location."

I pointed out that is inaccurate and you're having a hissy fit.

Why are you like this every time someone points out you made a mistake?

Setting aside your childish antics for the moment,  This is actually a pretty huge story.  Changing the rate of inflation to 'minimize' it has happened before a few times and it leads to a very misleading picture of how canadians are doing financially. Doing so again would basically be allowing the gov't to hide when it's policies

A lot of decisions are made based on inflation. AND the public confidence in the economy relies on knowing the inflation rate accurately. I think we should be speaking out against artificially lowering the inflation rate by removing one of the most major costs that people face.

How can you accurately discuss inflation without discussing a bill that represents about 33 percent of people's income these days?

It seems like there is some miscommunication and tension by you in this forum. Acknowledging and addressing your mistakes in a respectful manner can help promote a more productive and amicable discussion among participants. Personal attacks and derogatory language detract from the exchange of ideas and should be avoided in order to foster a constructive dialogue.

Once again, name calling and accusations do not make an argument acceptable. It is crucial to consider all factors that impact inflation, including housing costs, in order to provide an accurate representation of the economic situation. Hiding or manipulating key components like housing costs can lead to a distorted view of financial well-being and misguide policy decisions. Transparency and honesty in reporting inflation rates are essential for public trust and informed decision-making.

You should listen to what your AI is telling you about yourself  - it's smarter than you and it's got a point, you really do miscommunication a lot and you should address your mistakes ;)

(one mistake would be the term 'this forum' - which tells me you wrote that and not your ai :)  LOLOL)

While AI can provide valuable insights and feedback, it's important to remember that it's still a tool created by humans. Additionally, it's essential to use critical thinking skills and self-assessment which seems to be lacking in your responses. Acknowledging and addressing mistakes, including miscommunication issues, is a crucial part of personal growth and improvement for you.

It seems you are engaging in a negative and unkind conversation. Instead, focus on more positive and constructive topics that can promote growth and understanding.

Oh and, get over your hurt feelings. Once an assface seems you will always be an assface .

Tell your AI i said that i appreciate it's concerns about me engaging with someone negative and unkind - but it doesn't realize the comedy value involved with watching him squirm :)
