Bring back capital punishment

Why do you want to protect convicted murderers? You are devoid of reason and justice.

Do you know anything about morality at all?

Who wants to protect them? Lock them up and throw away the key but I want no part of killing anyone that I don't have to.

Executing people must be a religion thing.

No, it a justice thing.  Why do you have a bleeding heart for convicted murderers?  Would you feel the same if it was family member who was murdered?

No a religion thing. Most fundamentalist religious types are into it regardless of the religion.

Wanting capital punishment just because it was a family member would be a revenge thing, not a justice thing. I wouldn't want revenge but I would want them put away for the rest of their lives without having to attend endless parol hearings. That is where our system falls short.

Justice comes from Judeo-Christian religion based on the Bible.  So I guess in that sense it has a religious base.  What is the alternative?   Progressivism, liberalism, ???

Muslims and other religions are also big into executing people. We have an alternative, we haven't executed anyone for 62 years.

That is nothing to be proud of.  The justice system is based on Judeo-Christian heritage.  Letting murderers escape capital punishment has accomplished nothing positive.  Gangs and killings are widespread now and nobody is safe.

a. If someone murders someone else, than why should they be spared their own life

b. If someone murdered someone you loved, would you not want them to have the death penalty imposed on them?

c. Your true liberal socialist values are showing

d. There have been many murderers that have been freed after they have spent so much time in jail

So many flaws in thought it is amazing.

a) What is the very first law in the 10 Commandments? And implying that The State has more rights than you as an individual is defeintely not a point you're proposing. Then YOU would be a Communist.

b) No. I believe in justice, not revenge. I think anyone who 'feels better' that anyone is put to death is deplorable.

c) this is your usual spewing of anti-social nonsense

d) Yeah they spent so much time in jail and then there's really not a lot of point keeping them there unless they're a danger to society. And the ones like Clifford Olsen and Pickton will spend so much time in jail, they'll be rolled out in a chair and spend their final days drooling in the corner of a nursing home.
- and that's not enough punishment for you?

You've revealed yourself as one of the most brutal, vengeful and deplorable, anti anything that resembles a civilized contemporary society posters on the forum. Shame, humility, reconciliation and definitely forgiveness are concepts beyond your ability to understand.

More than you it seems. And all without quoting a dusty old book.

It is not appropriate you make reference to christian heritage because Jesus said to not follow the tooth for tooth law

Do you really think gangs give a crap about capital punishment? Since when have gangsters ever worried about it? Their greatest worry is getting killed by each other.

That is an oversimplification.  Capital punishment is just and protects society.  The murderer is no longer able to kill again.  Society is being protected.

Capital punishment for murder is an age old justice practice.  It goes back to Genesis 9:6

"6  Whoso sheddeth man’s blood, by man shall his blood be shed: for in the image of God made he man."  Genesis 9:6

Where did Jesus ever say that punishment no longer applies for murder?

Some might worry about it.  Either way, justice should be done regardless of whether it changes their thinking or not.  That is not the purpose of justice.  Justice should be done simply because it is the right thing to do.

You don't want justice, you want revenge.

I think you just want to use your god as an excuse to play god yourself.

Think what you want.  I believe what God said in the Bible.  You will be held accountable for yourself.

I don't have to worry.  You should be worried.

Worried about what, that I don't want to kill people?

So you can read other people's mind and know the basis of their beliefs.  The Bible requires capital punishment and it was inspired by God.  Your argument is with God.

Worried what will happen to you for rejecting God, Jesus Christ, and his word, the Holy Bible.

You get it wrong again, punisment is not justice but injustice, justice is to love your neighbour as yourself. Because you don't want to be punished you cannot punish your neighbour

Mt 5, Lk 6, Mt 7

I would rather answer for not killing people than killing them. You can explain why you used the Bible to justify killing your fellow humans when you didn't have to.

And there are still lots of things we must do that have risks even if the risks are very small.  Fly in aircraft, run the medical system, drive motor vehicles.  Sometimes there are accidents.  Nothing is perfect.

Those are risks people choose to take.

Being murdered for a crime you didn't commit is NOT a risk people choose to take.

Sorry kiddo  - there's only one judge who gets it right all the time and if he wants to see them he'll make the arrangmenets on his own :)   In the meantime lock them up for life.

Your understanding of the Bible is bizarre and irrational.  You don't appear to believe in justice.  Just let murderers and criminals go free.  No punishment.  Not sure how you get that out of the Bible.  It make absolutely no sense.

Weren't you the guy who said money is evil and nobody should use it?

I have the Bible, which is God's word, on my side.  What do you have?  Nothing.

You cannot judge your neighbour for his crimes because you don't want to be judge for your crimes. I am just not you. The rules you applies to you is the same rule you must apply to your neighbour
