John Oliver's takedown of SCOTUS ethics

There is no new "news" in this news (t's based on the ProPublica investigation), but this is an elegant and compact package illustrating how the highest court in the land has the lowest ethical standards. 

The offer at the end is a beautiful example.

When the supreme court is making decisions the left likes - they are as honest and uncorruptable as the day is long.

If they make decisions they DON'T like - then they're the most evil and corrupt people in the universe.

When the SC ruled that abortion was legal anywhere at any time, despite the word not even being in the constitution, it wasn't considered "ruling from the bench", it was "A-OK". 

When they decided that abortion laws were important enough to require actual legislation, resulting from the full democratic process, they were overreaching 🤣

I would think most intelligent people should care, but certainly many millions of people. He's really an astute critic of society, politics and the media. The fact that he couches sharp commentary in comedy is a bonus, because it's usually a laugh or cry situation.

In the US people are innocent if they're not indicted and convicted, but when you're part of the DOJ, and the DOJ doesn't want to indict themselves, are you really innocent? Again, is that was meets your ultra-low standard for ethics? 

Anyone else who did what the FBI is known to have done would be in jail. That's what makes them an illegitimate police force, get it? 

If your low ethical standard is in line with theirs, that's nothing to brag about.

And sentenced to what?

He's a lawyer who 'altered evidence to change its meaning by 100%, then he submitted it to a judge' and he didn't spend a day in jail, he wasn't even disbarred.

If I did that I'd definitely go to jail. People who just tell lies to the FBI, or say something that ends up being untrue, go to jail for years. That's far less of a willful action than altering an email and then submitting it.

Lol. As a pathological liar yourself, I'm not sure your offered opinion counts for anything. 

Meanwhile, Oliver is a respected journalist and his HBO show has earned many millions of dollars for the network while collecting 28 Emmy awards and 2 Peabody awards, among the show's many other accolades. -- That's 28 more Emmys than and 2 more Peabody awards than the entire Fox "news" network. BTW. (That's right, Fox News has no awards for journalism, because they don't practice journalism.)

But Fox does have have something that Oliver's little show doesn't: multiple defamation judgements stemming from their many high-profile lies. 

So, you should probably apply some prudence when throwing around the term "liar." I know your knee-jerk reaction to any respected media source is to blindly attack it, (because it's not Fox or some random YouTuber) but that's simply not how the rational people of the world think.
