Plasma is not 'hot' eh? That why you cut steel with it?

The !diot opens his mouth with more intelligent discussion.

As I said GOP congealing behind a fully indocrinated Bible thumper who is fully behind a conman with 90+ charges as the least objectionable candidate shows the total collapse of sanity among them.
Far too many US voters are more concerned with what Church their politicians go to and who they sleep with than their policies and qualifications to hold office.

As opposed to the DemoNazis, with fully indoctrinated KORAN THUMPERS.

Hey, ******. The Bible doesn't start out with KILL ALL NON CHRISTIANS, you mor0n.

The Christofascism of Mike Johnson

Quote

It took Mike Johnson just a couple days last week to rise from a relatively obscure Louisiana congressman to House speaker. Suffice it to say his background and policy positions did not hold up well under their first exposure to national attention.

Johnson is an opposition researcher’s goldmine. Even over the weekend, news reports and video clips steadily trickled out exposing the new speaker for embracing views that are far out of step with mainstream America.

In particular, Johnson is deep in the Christofascist derp. And if you didn’t know that already, it became clear last Thursday during his first big TV interview as speaker, a spot on Sean Hannity’s show where he explained that his position on any issue comes straight from the Bible.

“Well, go pick up a Bible off your shelf and read it. That’s my worldview; that’s what I believe,” Johnson told on Hannity, with a proud little head tilt.

What Johnson means when he says that his worldview is that of the Bible is not that he’s going to make a good faith (as it were) effort to follow biblical prescriptions. Rather, it means he’s certain that his own particular white evangelical Christian nationalist tradition is sanctioned by God, and that, therefore, whatever smug and barmy thing comes out of his mouth is divinely inspired.

And much of what has come out of Johnson’s has been barmy indeed — not to mention smug, and often terrifyingly cruel. Based on his stated supposedly biblical positions, the Bible in Johnson’s head is a silly, vicious farrago of ignorance and bigotry, and a blueprint for Christofascist tyranny.

Does the new Speaker of the House think that dinosaurs were on Noah's Ark?

Does anyone on here?

Don't be shy now...

I don't.

There are, however, some real stupid people out there who think human beings come from goo.

What do you think?

1. IF ^this was "simple logic," then the "intelligent creator" could not exist without a "cause."

2. More "simple logic:" the universe ALWAYS existed and changed in complex random ways.

3. In an infinite universe, the probability that EVERYTHING will happen approaches 100%.

1. The "cause" is to expand and create more worlds - more life.

2. God always existed and He commands the Universe.

3. God is the infinite creator, and HE rules over the infinite Universe. ;)

This is hilarious!

Stone carvings decorating the temples of Angkor, Cambodia, portray facets of everyday life, including images of animals and people. They are 800 years old...

In 1496 Bishop Bell was buried in the floor of Carlisle Cathedral in the north of England. Engravings in a brass inlay decorated his tomb with depictions of many well-known animals such as a bat, dogs, fish and a bird (see images below). Also engraved on the brass are two unusual animals, with long necks that are interlocked, and long tails. Many have noticed that they resemble sauropod dinosaurs.

Not only were dinosaurs coexisting with humans, but they were doing so as recently as the fifteenth century!

Did Bishop Bell ever talk or write about dinosaurs, or are you just making sh*t up as you go?

You would have to define goo.  Is that like Play-Doh?

Obviously, I'm making it up, to mock people like you, and those who printed that absurd document.

Which document? The Bible? The Bible is awesome! It teaches us how to climb out of the woke filth and return back to God.

You'll understand eventually, but that probably won't be until Final Judgement. Here's to hoping you pull your head out before then. ;)

Ah, I see where the confusion is.  Not the Bible.  The Bible is fiction, but I doubt the authors knew about dinosaurs.  I'm sure they would have fit them in somewhere if they did.

I meant the document posted by member @blackbird, which clearly mentions the Bishop of Carlisle and from which that quote came.  It's here, in all its fantastic glory.

I think we evolved from single-celled organisms.

Do you think we evolved from Adam and Eve??

You religious folks are so cute until you start telling other people what to do.

I don't buy it. I think dinosaurs predate humans.

Yet you came from your mother's womb, just like everyone else came from their mothers' wombs.

Do you see the problem with your thinking?

I sure did.  Good old Mum.  She really came through for me there.

My thinking?  You're the one who believes in Adam and Eve.

As did my mom. Aren't mothers great? Fathers too, for helping in the creation process. ;)

I do believe in Adam and Eve. They are our first parents.

Disagree? Are you trying to tell me that you've traced your lineage back to the primordial pools?

I would have to trace it back to the pre-Cambrian era to really pinpoint it, and genealogical records just don't go back that far.

Still, at least that would involve some real time scales.  About when do you reckon Adam and Eve first saw the light of day?

Difficult to say. We don't know for sure how long they stayed in the Garden of Eden.  Time has zero relevance in Heaven, and the Garden was pretty Heaven-like. If that's the case, then all those millions of years you guys talk about may have just cycled through by the time Adam and Eve were escorted out of the G of E.

Back to the topic,

It is probably not all that relevant that Johnson is religious. It will only come up when a bill directly affects freedom of religion. As long as they keep it out of schools, I usually side with freedom of religion. For instance, in my hometown of Boise, we have a 10 commandments statue/exhibit near the main public library. I have no problem with it and would vote to have it stay there. Also, to the Northeast of town on a plateau named Table Rock, we have a large cross. There was a ballot initiative to have it removed. Guess what? I voted to have it remain there. Also, I was part of the march to have it remain untouched. Why? It does not affect one's daily life at all. It is a decoration upon a hill, if you do not like it then do not look at it.

That's handy!

Still, it's a lot better than saying the Earth is 6000 years old and your God took 6 actual 24 hour days to put everything together.  You should be Speaker of the House.  You're obviously a lot smarter than the current occupant of the post.

Peter in the NT spoke about a day for God being 1,000 years for us, so that would mean God took 6,000 years of our time to put it all together.
