Lyft’s new feature lets women and non-binary riders request their driver’s gender - Sexist?

The feature lets women and non binary people opt to prefer drivers that are of the same type.

So if i build an app that lets me set men as my preferred employee of choice and excludes women until i'm sure no men are available - is that ok now?  I feel like woke has now come full circle.

But knowing people who worked driving and dispatching taxis in the 1980s do you know how many people requested "Caucasian driver only"?

A few drivers I knew were making tons of money because they were white. Gotta admit, the money they mentioned was enough to get me to go apply... never followed up on it as I got a job on a union assembly line that paid even more.
But judging by the number of women (let alone trannies) that would do such a job, some people are gonna be waiting a very long time for a ride.

I'm not ok with any sexism. I'm not ok with what you describe from back in the day and i'm not ok with this.

I do wonder what the reaction would be if they put in a feature that said "no women drivers'.

If my wife tells me men are useless, that's not sexism. Its punching up.

Now, if I told my wife women are useless, I should be canceled, and have my d*** cut off. Ideally at the same time.

I then should be enrolled into re-education classes, where I could reevaluate my unnacceptable views.

well i don't think they'll get far - asking for men's rights in the USA right now is practically a criminal offense, punishable by public flogging followed by cancellation.

Well.. we shall see. Every time I think that something is safe from the faux outrage/faux oppression narrative.. I get debunked again. Having grown up quite poor and had to overcome some serious obstacles and now leading a comfortable middle class life.. I find it weak and pathetic that folks complain about their mostly comfortable existence. Yeah.. some things are not perfect but they really bring out their inner drama queen and make it seem like it is the Khmer Rouge part 2.

Everyone has obstacles. It's foolish to assume anyone doesn't.

Even within the Biden family, where Hunter is lavished with gobs of money due to his dad's status & amoral abuse of power, there's a younger sister who had to shower with her dad.

Why would it be overturned?  Who would overturn it?   If you mean that it will overturned by the company if it doesn’t work for them, ok, sure.  They can overturn their own business practices.  If you mean by the courts, that’s pretty funny.  If a woman prefers a woman doctor, is that somehow illegal and will be “overturned” too?

It’s a private business choosing to cater to the wishes of their customers by providing a service.

Are you a very below average intelligence? Prepare to be made fun of and struggle in life.  Are you a very above average intelligence? It's not much easier.

Are you an ugly female? You will be discriminated against hard.  A fat person?

How about neuroatypical or neurodivergent?  Try getting through life with serious dyslexia or asperger's - even if you are functional prepare for a world that doesn't understand you and treats you poorly.

There's dozens of other reasons why people look down on or acted bigoted to individuals or why they will struggle hard in life to succeed and have good relationships.

TBH, whenever someone requests a specific type of driver, they'll just experience longer wait times than everyone who just selects "next available". 

Also, I think this puts female drivers at greater risk, because any perv who wants to target a woman can just pretend that he's non-binary.

Some guy who needs to get a life is going to sue saying that due to this policy.. he did 2 less jobs per night and so that cost him $80 or so. $80 per night over 5 days is $400 and so on. He is going to lay on the water works and play victim as per normal society.

What law would make Lyft have to equally dole out the rides to their drivers?
