There has to be greater consequences than simply losing an election. I don't care who you are, if you commit criminal negligence, leading to death you should go to prison. Don't be afraid to speak up. Justin Trudeau should be put on trial.

It wouldn't of stopped the virus. They needed to close their border to all infected countries, and just maintain trade to keep the economy stable.

Do you know why the Spanish Flu didn't destroy the economy 100 years ago, because people were self sufficient, and because manufacturing happened locally. When you create transnational supply chains, you put the entire world at risk.

agreed, but we didn't do ANYTHING.   Further, we could never stop the virus, but the key was to delay wholesale infection until treatments and later vaccines were proven and available.

I don't buy the excuse that we need to wait 18 months for a vaccine. That's how long it takes to make a Herpes vaccine or whatever. When the global community has trillions of dollars it it's disposal, it shouldn't take more than 6 months.

Like I said before... begin full scale trials on prisoners, wait a month to see what the wide effects are... and then pick the vaccine with the best results.

What we shouldn't tolerate, is useless red tape delays, that put the entire planet at risk.

As I already implied: there are several vaccine candidates now in approval process.   EVERY government involved knows very well they have to move hard and fast, but there are still serious implications to re-assigning existing drug regimens or new vaccines to unknown diseases or with unknown results.

This is why the delay thing is so important.   People in Yurp and elsewhere are essentially guinea pigs for those of us who can come later.   The higher/earlier community transmission in those countries have resulted in a lot of trial-and-error stuff we can benefit from.

Let the prisoners be those guinea pigs.... Heck I would offer Paul Bernardo a reduced sentence, if he took the needle! If it's saves thousands of live, who cares about the victims families. I'm not even kidding. 

The most dangerous vaccine trials should happen with the prisoners. Especially in the US. If you're going to put someone on death row, it makes no sense to kill them, before offering to do medical research, in exchange for a lower sentence.

I'm sorry if that offends the woke, politically correct people, but we need to think outside the box during national emergencies.

Why especially in the US ?    Many countries in the world have the death penalty and prisoners on death row.

Well because we don't have the death penalty in Canada, and if you're going to kill the inmates anyways... there is nothing immoral, about doing medical tests on them... if they agree to a lower sentence. Who's going to complain about it, Bernie Sanders?

Yes...Sanders and a lot of other people.    Don't care what Canada has....many other nations have the death penalty besides the United States.

If I was running Canada, would re-instate the death penalty, just to have people that can be used during medical emergencies. I would offer most prisoners a chance at life, if they agree to medical tests, that can provide great benefits to society. I think that would give them a way to make up for the crimes they've did. If anyone thinks this idea is immoral, let me know.

Due to the lack of more detailed information I would agree with you that everyone not just the elderly needs to exercise extreme caution but that may well be sloppy reporting.

This is true. One site I visit mentioned the greater number of obese people in the US, for example, as compared to China. I'd like to know how many of those younger people had pre-existing conditions of some sort too.

OK, but Canada had problems even when it wasn't an emergency.   Ironically, a Canadian doctor (Frances Oldham Kelsey) working for the U.S. FDA saved the U.S. from the thalidomide birth defects fiasco, while Canada approved the drug and is still paying damages to malformed victims.

The rest of the world has far more prisoners than the U.S.

Volunteers are easy to get for vax trials...already happening in Seattle right now.

All it takes is.....$$$$$$$    (USD...not CAD).
