Trump is not a leader of any kind. And if Mr. Bone Spurs did give an order it would likely be 'surrender'.

Oh please. If that was true that idiot Taxme would have been gone long ago. Instead I got suspended for calling him a Nazi.

Fascist perhaps, but he doesn't seem like a National Socialist, Nazis are committed, they don't make any bones about being Nazis, if he was a Nazi, he would proclaim it loudly.

I really don't want to get into a ridiculous exchange of insults over how shitty a place the US/Canada is/are. They're both great, rich countries which have their problems. They both have morons as leaders - though ours is at least sane and not working for the Russians. They're both better than most of the rest of the world (though frankly, I envy the Aussies).

He keeps referencing hate sites and fascists. I really don't see that calling him a fascist as opposed to a Nazi changes the equation. He still hates Jews, even if he does use code words for his conspiracies about 'zionists' and 'banksters'.

See I wouldn't want you suspended for that, that's lame. I don't see any need to ban taxme, that's just someone else you disagree with who want silenced, because you are pissed that people respond to their posts, and find them more interesting than yours on occasion. You just want to control the conversation, and anytime it doesn't go the way you want it to, you claim people are breaking the rules and should be banned.

Plenty of lefties screech about the Zionists and Banksters too.  A Nazi is a very specific and extreme breed of fascist, the vast majority of fascists do not meet the threshold of a Nazi.

Canada reports to him via NORTHCOM in Colorado, or SHAPE in Brussels, none the less.

The Canadian units assigned to treaty organizations might report to higher American authority, but those orders can always be overriden by Canadian authorities.  So no. We do not report to Trump.

I didn't call for him to be silenced and I don't believe I've ever reported him. I just called him out on his holocaust denial bullshit when he got a little too bald about it.

Given his repeatedly expressed disdain for Jews I have little doubt he's got himself some hitler worship stuff around the house.
And you won't see me being nice to lefties who push that bullshit either.

The Canadian authorities are totally reliant on the Americans, Canada has no logistics tail, NORTHCOM is the logistics tail for Canada, and CDSA is always in effect, Canada could withdraw from CDSA, but since DND is totally reliant on the Pentagon, that's not going to happen.

Not going to disagree much. The under-funding of the Canadian military has been an ongoing irritant to me for decades. I lost a lot of respect for Harper for continuing that tradition.

Harper discovered that it was too broken to fix,  it's dead, throwing money at it doesn't fix anything, it can't even spend the money, Chretien destroyed the infrastructure to even run military acquisitions, that's why they cant get any kit, even when the money is made available.

No. Harper just didn't like all the issues that kept coming up, from the treatment of prisoners in Afghanistan (which we handed over to allies) to McKay's helicopter ride to the F-35. He got ticked off and stopped giving a crap about the military, except to use its funds when the recession hit and he was trying to cut back on things most people wouldn't care a lot about.

The acquisition problem isn't due to the military so much as the government's insistence that whatever big ticket items they buy have to be first measured by how many jobs and how much money flows into important government constituencies.

Well, I have to admit I haven't read every post on here, and I haven't been consulted about any that have been deleted, so with me it's more of a "I doubt that very much" situation.  I would lean more to the idea that rational arguments that meet the requirements of the guidelines don't get deleted, no matter how big are the waves they create.

Back in the 1980's the Forces were underfunded, but we could still deploy the 1st Canadian Division if need be, but now the total sum of Canada's deployable conventional force, is a single battalion.  They have to cannibalize the entire military stores, just to fit out a single battalion.

They can't even buy 9x19mm sidearms.   Pistols.  Pistols is too much of an acquisition for DND to handle.

Oddly enough, F-35 would be the easiest thing for Canada to "buy", because you don't even buy it, you just pay the Americans and they run everything for you, they even train the pilots for you, basically you just give the Americans cash, and recruits, and they run your air force as part of their own.

The F-35 program is tailor made for Canada, and if everything was like the F-35, the Canadian military would be equipped like the Americans.

Well that may be your stance now, but keep your eyes open, and you might notice the dynamic I describe. Feel free to be skeptical, I'm just offering you my honest assessment of the situation as I've observed to this point.

I've only been here for a short time, so perhaps it's a small sample size that is influencing my opinion, I doubt that very much, same as you, and I'm open to the possibility that I could be mistaken.

My experience here after tens years+ worth of warnings and suspensions is that the moderator would prefer a hands off approach, but if you make him get out of his squad car he is bringing an ass kicking with him.    Those who force him to clean up a tangled mess of off topic foreplay will be warned and then get a vacation.   Only the most incorrigible forum criminals get banned outright.   Lately he just shuts the thread down if it is a hopeless derail with no hope of returning to the tracks.

This is not a new development....years ago we would joke about identical circumstances with forum rules comparisons to "Cool Hand Luke"....
