NATO membership has responsibilities...even for defense spending deadbeats that sent Canadian Forces into war without proper equipment, jungle camo, no rotary winged aircraft, and Iltis jeeps.    Now that's pathetic.

Trump is an existential threat to canada's economy because no other nation in the world is so dependent on the USA market, investment capital, and military.

I see the bone spurs appreciation for sacrafice has a like minded cult. “ I like those that weren’t captured “ of cowards and traitors. Better read some history. See what happens to fascists,.

U.S. history:

Quote

...But let’s not omit the other half of the story: Roosevelt also embraced economic fascism, especially in his efforts to get America out of the Great Depression.

The best example was FDR’s National Industrial Recovery Act, a fascist program that would have fit perfectly in Mussolini’s fascist Italy. Under the NIRA, federal officials organized private American businesses, industries, and corporations into giant cartels that established “codes of fair competition,” which set prices, wages, and production in their particular sectors, all enforced by federal force. More than 500 codes of “fair practice” were developed.

Not surprisingly, FDR put a military man, retired Hugh Johnson, to run this fascist program.

Something like the US ,,,,Congress has allocated funds for all U.S. troops to wear 16-pound, ceramic-plated Interceptor body armor (search), but as many as 51,000 American soldiers and civilian administrators in Iraq have not yet been equipped with the gear, and have been asking friends and families at home to purchase and send them off-the-shelf models for protection.

And then there is the problem using civilian humvee's in Iraq.....The Army began the Iraq war with an estimated $56 billion equipment shortage and has struggled to keep up with demands for new armor to protect against increasingly deadly bombs. In the case of FRAG Kit 5, the Army quickly produced a bolt-on version in limited quantities, while the permanent version has taken longer than expected to develop, test, produce and install. Meanwhile, the unexpected deployment of five additional Army brigades into Baghdad has created an urgent need for 2,000 Humvees with the new armor.

So it looks like Uncle Sam has the same issue of not supplying proper equipment

If Canada is so worried about Putin and Kim, then spend some money and go over there to "fix the problem"....don't continue to hide behind the United States and Donald Trump.

Ask Merkel to help you....Germany is a "world power" !

Good....make the NATO deadbeats earn it.

Take it out of the Trade surplus that the US has with Canada.

That the only time NATO’s mutual defense clause was invoked was by European and Canadian governments in solidarity with the us after the September 11 attacks.  Touching as the show of solidarity after September 11 was, Canada was the only ally whose military cooperation was essential, and that cooperation is provided bilaterally through the North American Aerospace Defense agreements.

Yes...those were your empire's imperialist wars....not started by America.   Your Queen will thank you.

I guess we can hide behind the policy of neutrality like the United States did when it was shivering and shaking like a dog shitting razor blades.

Sure...whatever that means.   Canada was "neutral" during the Vietnam War too, while making BILLIONS on war material exports to the USA.

Sounds good....I guess some Canadians worry about "yellow" (???) people and Russians more than I do, and now they worry about Trump not protecting them from their own fears.

There's a solution for that...stop depending on the Americans.

No trump is not just another president, trump is a fascist demagogue who is destroying your democracy and is a threat to the world. Your condescending comments to a nation that sacraficed the lives of their troops because you were attacked on 911 is disgusting and pathetic.

Are we talking about the same guy who might have brought to the Korean war....how is he a threat to democracy and the world ?

Our nation answered the call of an allied , Canada would have done this regardless of the nation , it was all part of the defensive agreement we signed.....

"The Canadian government" Sacrificed the lives of our troops because it was to cheap to provide our military with the equipment it needed to do the job...And it's citizens let them get away with it...despite everything the military did to convince the people that we where under equipped, under manned, from troops complain to the media, complaints to government commissions sent over seas in the thousands of dog and pony shows so they could get a picture with the troops....we even made huge affairs about sending the boys home in flagged draped coffins, to be escorted down the high way of hero's….  and nothing..

Our government and most of it's citizens had forgotten all about military , the WAR was not popular ….. instead of increased funding it was reduced , we did more with nothing....still the flagged draped coffins roll down the high way of hero's….. the people tune the war out, the government wanted out....and we waited for someone to make a decision , we waited 10 long years...once again when enough soldiers had died, we got to go home, we came home to reduced military budgets, no more funding for training , no funding for anything....we would now end up fighting our government in courts for medical pensions, men with no legs had to prove every year to the government there legs did no grow back , before they could collect meager pensions..not enough doctors to treat physical or mental problems....Today their have been more suicides of returning soldiers than those killed on the battle field....and still our government tells the media " we are asking more than they can give"

I think disgusting and pathetic does not cover it....

Your irrational response with half truth and outright lies make me suspect you are an american or at the very least suffering trump cult sickness.

Really irrational, half truths, outright lies....Perhaps you can enlighten me on what you perceive to be lies, and half truths, maybe you can provide a source or two that says i'm full of shit...or maybe your talking out of your ass.  and no I'm not American,  just a Canadian military vet....with multi tours over seas.

One example would be the treatment of the wounded . The government tried to come up with a better way to treat veterans. Your half truth implies there was an effort to deny treatment and benefits. Without getting into all the details that is simply hog wash. No policy is accepted as a 100% by everyone but unlike rapid tribalists i  understand everyone has their interest at heart left and right alike.

Maybe you should do some searching on google, try a retired  major in Ottawa, lost both his legs in Afghanistan, he has to prove his legs are still missing before they continue his treatment  last time I checked legs do not grow back, so why does the VAC make him prove it every year, he has been the subject of many of media news stories…..he has gone through this process for years, there are hundreds of examples with many court cases still ongoing .....you do the research  and then tell me all of our wounded were looked after like they should have been...What about the soldier that called Justin recently ,out west during his talk to the people tour..., he to lost a leg during Afghan....

It is true the government has brought in new policy's…..most of them had nothing to do what Vets wanted, rather than what some politician thought vets needed....The fact some vets are denied treatment and benefits are facts, Why have vets taken the government to court, because they are bored, and have nothing to do....Look into mental health issues across the forces, not enough docs to look at and treat all the military guys that need it....they are overwhelmed and many soldiers are sent home with 6 to 8 months between appointments, soldiers are forced to go to civilian hospitals for treatment in between if they have issues....and we wonder why there has been so many suicides...

Your right no policy is ever 100 % correct, Vets want the one that harper tore apart it was working.....but they tore it down for a reason it is saving them bils…..and they don't want to bring it back.....Because we are asking more than the government is willing to give.....
