I noticed there is no save button once a post has been edited. It took me a couple times to save it by entering a reason but still no save button. Not very user friendly.

Heck, I just wanted to find my recent posts - and responses. (Gawd, I hate this forum software now.)

=====

This new forum software entirely misses the point of an Internet forum. It's not about italics or emojis. Or inserting media.

It's about attracting eyeballs to the screen. Someone smart will figure this out, and create good forum software.

I just want to have a chat with people. "What did so-and-so say last week about what I said about Trudeau, Bush?  Really?"

====

A few advertisements on the side, the occasional pop-up, no problem. (In a US bar, there's the inevitable Michelob ad.)

Let me repeat this:

I want a place/website to stop by, and argue with the regulars. They know me; I know them. But nobody else knows anybody. It's a local dive.

Some know something about Canada, French/English and Alberta/Quebec. Ontario/Nfld. (But I can accept totally ignorant - wtf; I reckon it rains in BC all the time.)

Nobody is going to drive a car afterwards.

I have a save button when I edit.  I'm on a laptop using Firefox.

bcsapper, sorry to use your post as an example, but you make my point.

I don't need fancy formats, emojis, whatever.

Make it easy to post, respond to a post. Then: Put relevant ads on the side (that I'll probably look at, maybe even click).

But you do need a save button when you edit.  Frankly, I don't see much difference between the new and the old anymore.  I would prefer the old, yes, but the new serves.

Greg,

This really has to be fixed. Software people just don't understand how ordinary people (me, for example) use forum software.

Software people (you, for example) have zero idea how to make money from this.

You are like the NYT/Hillary/Jeb; surprised when a Donald/Justin arrives.

Post a screenshot of this issue, because as bcsapper confirmed, there is a save button available when you edit (it's in the lower right-hand side).

I think that Ann Coulter referred to a $1000 bill laying on the sidewalk.

I would provide a link but like Jeb! - Greg, you just don't get it.

Greg, you miss the point, and make it difficult.

A few general points here:

- Greg doesn't 'program' this site - he 'configures' it just as you 'configure' your computer by setting the screensaver, and so on.  He's limited in what he can do with the software, to what Invision (I think that is the supplier) offers as options.

- If you are having problems, please post in detail what happened and we can all jump in and help out, talk through it.

- Sometimes issues happen with one browser, or another.  Sometimes issues happen if you have software such as pop-up blockers installed.  Try other browsers and see if your issue still happens.

- Greg showed here how to EDIT a post.  The question of how to LINK should be similarly easy to solve: hit the little 'chain' icon to the LEFT of the quote symbol... right above the big white box you type into.  A LINK box pops up - simply add the url and text into the two text boxes, then click the box that says 'insert into post'.

Michael, you're wrong.Greg/Lethbridge cboose the way this forum works.

Years ago, in the 1990s (?), Once Upon A Time, this forum worked, people/posters argued.

Then, as all IT/engineers/socialists wish - Greg wanted to "improve" things.

From Pompei to Dublin, a pub is a pub.

Please return/keep this place as it was: In English, I can stop by, easily quote someone else, and say what I think.

Ever watch a baseball game?

Do you agree with all umpire calls?

Are some umpire calls more than not just in your favour, but blatantly wrong?

Would it be a different game without the umpires?

You guessed it, I'm not really talking about baseball.

Greg has some choice, yes, but what you're not hearing is that his power is limited.

Rolling back the upgrade is not an option, probably because the source software will not support you if you do not upgrade - just like Windows and Apple.

As for your issues with editing, please articulate your issue and we can help you with it I'm sure.

Thanks for posting.

How do I quote and respond?

I just clicked on the word "Quote" in your post and wrote under the box containing your post.  It works well if it's this type of simple response.  I tried a more complicated response yesterday and my keyboard starting typing backwards.  Really, it did.

Press the Quote button and type.  The cursor is automatically situated directly below the quote.

If your browser does not render thusly, it is likely that your browser is at fault.  Try a better browser.

InternetExplorer commonly does not render sites properly.

Same here.  Why this happens, I do not know.  I do not expect modern web to work "properly" from the user's perspective.

Regardless, it occurs after 1 carraige return to split a quote.  Pressing 2 carriage returns stops the backwards type.

We do not have time for a meeting of the flat earth society.

Ok, that isn't supposed to happen.  I'll look around and see if there are other reports of this type of issue.

Thanks

However, what browser (type and version) and OS were you using?

It happened to Charles Anthony too.  It was actually pretty neat.  I was tempted to post it and pretend I'd done it deliberately.  I'm using Firefox in Windows 7.  I can't find the Firefox vesion but I do install all updates.

I have noticed something peculiar, I believe I was using Firefox at the time, but have been unable to reproduce it reliably. I was able to break a quote into two parts by hitting a double carriage return, I assumed it was a feature but not quite sure under what conditions it works. It might have been with one version back of Firefox, as I am now using version 50 and have been unable to reproduce the same behavior. No backwards typing however.

That's when the backwards writing happened.  When the large quote was broken into two parts.  I thought it was a fairly handy feature for replying to long posts, until the Devil took my keyboard.
