(NEWSER) – The US now has more hydroxychloroquine than it knows what to do with following a series of studies that concluded the drug is an ineffective and potentially dangerous treatment for COVID-19. The federal government, which started stockpiling the drug in March, now has 63 million surplus doses of the drug, donated by companies including Novartis, and another 2 million doses of chloroquine, the New York Times reports. Some 31 million doses from the Strategic National Stockpile were distributed before the FDA withdrew its emergency authorization of the drug to treat the coronavirus. President Trump championed the drug for months, hailing it as a possible "game-changer" and announcing that he was taking it himself.

And Liberals are the Sheep

Maybe they can re-brand it for Halloween.

WASHINGTON — The U.S. Supreme Court ruled Thursday that the Trump administration cannot carry out its plan to shut down the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, which has allowed nearly 800,000 young people, known as "Dreamers," to avoid deportation and remain in the U.S.

The decision is a big legal defeat for President Donald Trump on the issue of immigration, which has been a major focus of his domestic agenda.

The ruling said the government failed to give an adequate justification for ending the federal program. The administration could try again to shut it down by offering a more detailed explanation for its action, but the White House might not want to end such a popular program in the heat of a presidential campaign.

Immigration lawyers told the Supreme Court after the case was argued last fall that frontline health care workers involved in responding to the coronavirus epidemic rely on about 27,000 DACA recipients, "including dentists, pharmacists, physician assistants, home health aides, technicians" and nearly 200 medical students.

"Termination of DACA during this national health emergency would be catastrophic," they said in an April 2 court filing. The Association of American Medical Colleges told the court last fall — well before the pandemic crisis — that the U.S. is unprepared "to fill the loss that would result if DACA recipients were excluded from the health care workforce."

The court said the Department of Homeland Security did not act properly when it ordered the program ended in 2017. In response to legal challenges, lower court rulings allowed DACA to keep going, letting young people in the program to reapply every two years and remain under its protection. Children of illegal immigrants were allowed to remain here if they were under 16 when their parents brought them to the U.S. and if they arrived by 2007.

Unmitigated disaster for Trump. His racist agenda has been derailed, and this is a court that was built with two guys he placed there.

No it's not...Trump just wanted to force Congress to act on the illegal immigration fiasco, and was quite willing to deal DACA in return.

Successive U.S. presidents from both parties have had to deal with this issue because the Congress refuses to act.

The Republican Congress refuses to act.

Has the Senate even allowed a vote? If Trump really cared about Congresses role in DACA, then he'd tell McConnell to vote on it.

Trump is 0-2 this week in the SCOTUS.

Will he strike out with the Tax Return case?

This has been going on since the last amnesty legislation...with Ronald Reagan in 1986.

Why do you think DACA even exists ?

As Judge Roberts notes in his decision. It's not just a failure to enforce the law, it's a program people apply to.

So yes it does exist.

...and it does nothing about the underlying issues for illegal immigration....again.

And that's not what DACA aimed to solve. It was narrowly focused on illegal immigrants that came to the country under a certain age that have no connection to their country of birth. But also are law abiding and contributing members to society.

Note all the companies that advocated for Dreamers they employ. Including 27,000 frontline healthcare workers.

They are still in the country illegally, and subject to deportation under U.S. federal law.

The "no connection" sob story is dismissed if they are convicted of a crime...so much for that excuse.

It also disarms the excuse that these Dreamers are a drain on society.

And many companies claimed the deportation would be a drain to the economy.

They aren't criminals working under the table. To stay in the program you actually have to contribute.

If you really wanted to stay in the country and live a life of crime, you wouldn't want to be a Dreamer. You have to re-apply every 2 years and provide your information. No criminal would agree to that.

Moot point, Massive L for 45.

So what ?    Many companies want lots of cheap, illegal immigrant labour.

DACA was an unconstitutional overreach by Obama, and Trump was right to challenge it, and he still can.

Deport all their asses and let them apply for status just like other immigrants do legally every day.

Feel the Canadian love for "Dreamers"....

A national public opinion research foundation, based out of Vancouver, says the majority of Canadians believe the U.S. should preserve a program allowing the children of undocumented migrants to remain in the country, while far fewer are willing to receive those who may become displaced.

Why would someone who is looking to do cheap illegal labour volunteer their contact information in order to get a Social Security Number?

One of the companies was Apple. They can just go to China when they're looking for cheap labour.

Did you miss the part about 27,000 front-line healthcare workers?

Doesn't appear that's happening in Trump's first term. Broken Promise! Massive Dailure! Huuuuge L! Looser!

They also volunteer stolen SSNs.    Legal and illegal immigrants labour has been proven to depress wages for American workers.

Healthcare....so what ?    We laid off more workers than that for COVID deferments.

Liberals are sheep.

The minute that Trump said 'HCQ' every liberal in NA believed every single negative thing that they heard about "the deadly side effects of HCQ". No one bothered to question why the drug was around for 60 years if it killed people stone cold dead, or turned people blind right away. None of them bothered to just look up the side effects themselves - they just all went into regurgitation mode. Even stupid things like 'Trump is making money off it' went viral right away, but the drug had been off-patent for decades at that point. Anyone with half a brain instantly knew that was bullshit.

That whole sycophant horde also just assumed in advance that the new vaccine was going to be pure as the driven snow, with no side-effects and a 100% success rate at stopping the pandemic. 'EVERYONE HS TO TAKE IT AS SOON AS IT COMES OUT!!!! THIS PANDEMIC IS OF BIBLICAL PROPORTIONS!!!!!!! [3-10 out of every 1,000 infected people die]

Ironic that the horde of people who thought that a drug with a 60-yr history of being safe (after being used for long periods of time by hundreds of millions of people) was suddenly proven to be a killer, all had 100% faith in a vaccine that still hadn't even been created and had never been tested on a single person.

That's the epitome of being sheep.

"We believe that after the billionth dose of HCQ had been taken without major side effects, it was tested on 1,000 people and we suddenly figured out that it's a killer which causes blindness. We also know that a vaccine which hasn't come out yet and has never been tested on anyone will be 100% safe after just a few clinical trials. We're better off taking that vaccine than rolling the dice with a disease that kills 3 out of 1,000"

So yes, I'm saying absolutely, unequivocally and for the record that "2015-2020 CANADIAN AND AMERICAN LIBERALS ARE SHEEP". If that's not true then I'm a liar.

So all the studies that now show HDQ as ineffective are lies?

It's not really about it being unsafe, it's about it being useless. It's unsafe when used without Doctor supervision.

I just said that liberals are sheep. You doubted that for a second.

HCQ isn't going to be the silver bullet here, but it really tells you a lot about a person when that makes them happy.

Sure, blame Obama for the Economic Meltdown.

Trump has to own COVID. Much worse.

I blame the Obamas for dog-whistling to rioters and looters. That's disgusting, and far worse than anything that any other US POTUS has done in a long time.

Trump has to own that in Dem-controlled states, covid killed about 650 people per million. Almost 3x as many as in Republican states.

Even Florida, with all of it's retirement communities, kicked ass on Covid.

The hardest-hit place on earth had a dem mayor and a dem governor. They were both guilty of incredibly stupid things, like sending infected people into care homes and telling people to continue riding the subway and eating in restaurants even after the POTUS had already taken significant steps which showed that the feds were taking covid seriously.
