His statements since becoming PM have been far more sensible. It's almost like he needed the pressure.

He hasn't stood up in the House and called anyone a "piece of s***" lately, so that's an improvement. Sunny ways. Heh

Right. He's an idiot. Just keep with that theory. Trudeau will get a bigger majority in 2019 if the Conservatives follow that route.Like when he answers unscripted questions from American University students?

Or Canadian students? Or the general public? Or in a room full of premiers? Conservative criticizing Trudeau as scripted is some bizarro world nonsense. Edited by cybercoma

More like his Baltic state not being a thing....

The question was about having a favourite baltic state. Is that a thing?

Yes...that was the story you were fed and apparently believed

I watched the video. It was pretty clear what the question was.

Where are you getting your story from, exactly?

You should put your listening ears on a little better. The exact question was : Favourite Baltic Nation. His response was not a question as you state (Is that a thing?). His response was "That's not a thing".

I am getting my story from Macleans. http://www.macleans.ca/politics/ottawa/explaining-justin-trudeaus-60-second-challenge/

Q: Favourite Baltic nation.

A: That’s not a thing.

The Baltic nations include Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania, all of whom are NATO allies.Canada was the first G7 country to recognize Latvia’s re-independence in 1991, though Canada had never actually recognized the annexation of any of the three Baltic countries by Russia during the Second World War. They noticed Trudeau’s apparent gaffe, too. After watching his 60-second challenge, Estonian newspaper Äripäev wrote: “It remains unclear whether he doesn’t consider the Baltic countries as important or if he just does not know what they are.”

The better question is...where are you getting your story from???

Yes?

Whether the answer was phrased as a question or not is irrelevant.

You didn't even get the text right though.

And you apparently still haven't read the question that you quoted.

So back to Trudeau not making any impromtu gaffes?

Other than accidentally saying America instead of Canada at the state dinner, I haven't seen any lately.

Most do that without ever considering it further, based on a clips of a few seconds from a year ago.

Right, anyone up for a penis joke about out military deployment? How about a hockey joke concerning an invasion of another country? Claiming to admire a dictatorship for any reason? Calling another mp a piece of shit in the house? The list goes on of course, so there are many valid reasons, not the least of which is simply listening to him speak about anything. Now of course I can't speak for you, but to intelligent people, he is exactly as Argus described, if his vacuousness was at some point just a theory it's already been conformed by the proof that he himself has provided.

Wait at least 5 years and you can possibly get back to the vacuous talking points Harper delivered ad nausea, and perhaps you will be happy. But don't hold your breath.

No one becomes Prime Minister by being an idiot. He and his handlers have managed his limitations well - and I don't really expect that to change. I regret that I haven't heard/seen his unscripted responses to American students - if there's a link, I'll have a look.

I did read the question of yours that I quoted. I also read the quoted statement from Sunny Ways regarding Trudeau is better when staying on script. Your point then as it continues to be is that Trudeau hasn't gaffed much since being in office.

Other than accidentally saying America instead of Canada at the state dinner, I haven't seen any lately.

I have shown you one of his clearest gaffes, one that brought about international responses and yet you still continue to gloss over it.

Do you honestly not see his Baltic answer as a gaffe? These guys do.

One way to guarantee that you avoid "gaffs" or being "misquoted" or "misspeaking" is to not give any interviews and not answer any questions. It worked for JT's predecessor.

With openness and not controlling what questions are being asked you leave yourself accessible to mistakes, misquotes and misinterpretations of what you say. I prefer to openness with mistakes versus controlled communication without errors.

Note - For those expecting a response from Big Guy: I generally do not read or respond to posts longer then 300 words nor to parsed comments.

I also prefer people who don't lie and say he hasn't had any.

With that said, a minor mistake is fine. When you basically insult the entire Baltic region saying that they don't exist or don't matter....well....I would prefer a scripted answer at that point.

Folks,

Please avoid thread drift.

We do not have time for a meeting of the flat earth society.

What's your favourite Baltic state? The PM shouldn't be picking favourite countries. That's not a thing...or a gaffe.

Latvia....only because I had a teacher from there and she was hot.

The PM shouldn't be picking favourite countries. That's not a thing...or a gaffe.

I'm glad to see you have changed what his actual response was. With that said, he didn't have to pick a country, he could have said 'Too hard to pick' or 'I like them all'. He could have even said he liked one for a similar reason like I stated above. He could have said many things and remained politically correct IF....and only IF he actually new what the Baltics were.

So yes....being the the PM of Canada and NOT knowing what the Baltics are is in fact a gaffe.
