Your ideal coalition?

Recommended Posts

If you could not get a majority Government, what would you consider to be your ideal coalition?

As for myself, I would be leaning towards a Conservative-Libertarian government. I find the Libertarian Party to be too capitalist and the Conservative Party not enough.

I also like the Libertarian Party's emphasis on civil liberties which would counterbalance Conservative xenophobia and excessive suppression of freedom in the fight against terrorism.

A Libertarian-NDP or Libertarian-Green coalition might be my second-preferred choice due to the NDP's position on the debt and the Green Party's tendency towards user-pay taxation.

Other than the Niqab issue...how are the Conservatives xenophobic?

Harper treated Ignatief like a traitor for having worked abroad. He has treated Mulcair in the same way for having dual citizenship. He wants to set up a ridiculous barbaric practices tip line as if 911 doesn't suffice. Now he's comparing banning the niqab across the public service. What's next?

So nothing then.

As I said, Harper's taking the Niqab thing too far. Then again I'm sure he realizes that the CPC vote is locked anyways. (I've voted already), so he probably wants to grab Quebec votes.

Christian Heritage - Libertarian would be my ideal, but in all seriousness, any coalition would have to be among parties that actually have seats. So, with that in mind, why not Conservative - BQ and bring back the Mulroney era big tent.

Wasn't it just seven years ago that the Tories were insisting anyone who entered a coalition with separatists was committing a political sin, even if the separatists' support was limited to confidence and supply?
