So acts of terror against the west should be ignored and not responded to? Just allow them to slaughter us?

I'll ignore the nonsense, and point out once again the thread is about a 14 year old student who happened to have the name Ahmed so the tin hat crowd freaked, and now are looking pretty stupid.

Right and I've said that no one would build a bomb with a massive display like the one this "student" put into a clock.

Are you suggesting he wasn't a student?

No. He was apparently a student.

It was handled wrong. If they thought it was a bomb I don't know why they didn't follow proper procedure. If they don't have a procedure then some training is needed.

We have Muslims who are trying to kill us after all.

So why don't we quit buying their oil?

I don't know. Thats a good question. We should.

I want to see oil companies kicked out and all natural resources should be controlled by the government. All resources should be used to take care of Canada first. Then any extra can be sold for the good of Canada.

Except that would drive up the price at the pump, so we will continue to import, even if they do drive planes into the odd office tower.

I'm waiting for the first mouth-breather to say "He did it on purpose........he knew the MSM would cover this." AND. "You know the 'War on Teachers' has begun."

I've read that on the comments sections of some articles.

Bill Maher has come out in favour of racial-profiling and does not stand with Ahmed.

Maher, after first mangling my last name, read this line from it, “Why would a homemade clock get him arrested, you may ask?” Before Maher could read the next sentence (where I noted, “It shouldn’t, but his last name is Mohamed and he lives in Irving, Texas,”), he was interrupted by Ramos who stated, “Exactly.”

This comment caused Maher to turn in his chair, learn forward toward Ramos and angrily declare: “I just answered that question. Because for the last 30 years it’s [islam] been a culture that has been blowing shit up over and over again. I could spend the rest of the show on this...”

http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2015/09/19/bill-maher-has-the-ahmed-mohamed-thing-all-wrong.html

Sounds like our posters from pages 1 and 2 before they realized the 'official' police-version is supposed to say that ethnicity had nothing to do with it and the police were just doing their due diligence.

At least Maher isn't afraid to stand by his words.

I'm late to this thread. Did others see this?

The boy's father described himself this way when he was a candidate for president of Sudan in 2010:

ElHassan is no stranger to adversity and experienced hardship firsthand, and during his lifetime has cultivated a deep sense of humanitarianism, tolerance and patience… Mohammed became proficient in all the religious sciences and has become an aficionado of prose and poetry. He attended many public events from his early age and unintentionally upstaged other expert orators in religious and political debates and remains unequalled. He is a passionate and sometimes amusing speaker of wisdom, logic and the realities of modern-day life. He possesses a deep insight into the causes of things and is dedicated to his principles.

What bothers me about this story is that the father fooled Obama.

Being Muslim and building bombs is very relevant given the current climate.

Same could have been said about Irish Catholics 20 years ago.

I think that before we call it either hysteria or justified, we really need need to see the clock.

Sorry, just found picture of it, and yes it looks like it could be a bomb - it's even in a box. I have to wonder if this isn't some kid trying to agitate a situation for reaction.

Black Dog posted a picture on the second page and people have been discussing what it looked like since then. You're not adding anything new to the discussion here.

Anyone who thinks this kid had any sort of nefarious intent is nuts. The kid's father fought against Muslim extremists in Sudan. More importantly, it's just a friggin clock, he only ever claimed it was a clock, and when people started freaking out he constantly tried to reassure them that it was just a damn clock. There's nothing about this thing that looks even remotely close to an actual bomb. There are absolutely no materials here that are explosive. Bombs don't get plugged into a wall. Bombs don't have countdown timers on them so the hero can cut the wire at the last possible second. That's a Hollywood plot device.

We're well beyond that point in the discussion. The point now is about people like you interpreting nefarious intents here, when you absolutely would not had the kid been a white Christian.

"Treating each and every threat seriously. Work with local law enforcement authorities from the jurisdiction of your individual school to determine protocols for evaluating bomb threats and procedures for evacuations. Develop procedures for actual evacuations (short and distant evacuations, alternative sites, transportation procedures, reunification with families, etc.)."

There are more suggestions on procedures at:

http://www.schoolsecurity.org/trends/school-bomb-threats-and-bombs/

If my child was in a school I would expect the administration to err on the side of caution if they were to err at all.

Note - For those expecting a response from Big Guy: I generally do not read or respond to posts longer then 300 words nor to parsed comments.

All good info but in this case, no threat was made. Quite the opposite, it was repeatedly claimed to be what it was, a clock. At the very most, this might be described as a suspicious object.

Possibly, or possibly they were just incompetent at dealing with the threat they thought they faced, which I think is more likely. Remember Hanlon's Razor: "never attribute to malice that which can be adequately explained by stupidity".

What about malicious stupidity?

Wow, check your pulse dude, you're way too wound up. The object looks way more like a bomb than it does a clock, especially to a female teacher -obviously. And, if a kid brought a lighter that looked like a gun (and those do exist), you bet a teacher would investigate the object.

I have seen my share of IED's and that pencil box clock looks nothing like them. And investigating an object is one thing, calling the cops and them leading a kid away in handcuffs, quite something else.

How many homemade bombs have you seen IRL?
