Germany and the rest of Europe cannot possibly absorb that many migrants, nor can they financially afford to but there is no sign of it stopping. This is an invasion plain and simple, the long term consequences of which, if allowed to continue will see Europe become third world themselves. If this is not contained there will be civil unrest and problems I don’t think they are prepared to handle.

Another major concern is the debt that the invaders incur to pay the scum that expedite getting them across borders illegally. Those debts then have to be repaid by whatever means possible which often leads to criminal activities which vary from prostitution through drug dealing and simple stealing, but very often all of them and more. There are not enough jobs for that many people, nor can the U.K., Germany, Italy et al afford welfare payments indefinitely.

IMO huge civil unrest will soon breakout unless this is addressed and this whole thing is going to end in tears.

Also http://www.spectator.co.uk/features/9560982/the-invasion-of-italy/ Welcome to Italy: this is what a real immigration

crisis looks like. With 50,000 boat people in just six months, and more to come, the politics of asylum here is becoming increasingly toxic.

.Here’s how it works. In the welcome centres, they are given free board and lodging plus mobile phones, €3 a day in pocket money, and lessons — if they can be bothered — in such things as ice-cream-making or driving a car and (I nearly forgot) Italian. Their presence in these welcome centres is voluntary and they are free to come and go, though not to work, and each of them costs those Italians who do pay tax €35 a day (nearly €13,000 a year). Yes, they are supposed to have their photographs and fingerprints taken, but many refuse and the Italian police, it seems, do not insist.

It's in the nature of the kind of government they have in Europe to temporize, delay, anguish, wring their hands, and hope something happens which absolves them from having to make any decisions. That's particularly so where the only decisions are very difficult and will lead to highly imperfect resolutions. These are pretty much all coalition leftist governments, too. The idea of taking a firm stand against immigrants, even illegal ones, is anathema to them.

The immigrants are being portrayed as desperate poor people. How can you take resolute action against them!? Of course, most of them are simply economic migrants from places like Algeria, but that's neither here nor there. Right now, the only possible way to stem the flow is to use the navy to physically blockade African ports. It's harsh, but it's either that or consent to this slow motion invasion of their countries by millions of poor, uneducated, illiterate foreigners who will swell the ranks of their welfare rolls, fill their prisons, and produce chaotic social upheaval.

But instead their navies are going out to rescue the boat people and bring them back to Europe. Doh! Sweden's socialist government has already said it will welcome however many Syrians show up, no questions asked. Bear in mind the population of Syria is more than twice that of Sweden, and that Sweden's position basically means any Arab who shows up from wherever simply claims they're Syrian. How you going to tell them apart without documents? I don't know about you, but if I was a dirt poor Arab in Algeria or Egypt or Lebanon and I knew free welfare for life awaited me in Sweden I'd damned sure be headed there.

Oh, added to this, Harper's government has been nagged incessantly to take in more Syrian refugees. So far they've been picking and choosing, trying to prioritize Christians, since they are the most endangered. Both Mulcair and Trudeau can be expected to go all out and bring in tens of thousands of Syrians, no questions asked.

The majority of these immigrants are from the Balkans, Iraq and Syria. So the West gets involved in local civil wars, bombs the bejeebers out of the coutries, destroying infrastructure and making the places uninhabitable and then wonder why the folks with no homes, sewers, potable water or health services decide to go anywhere else they can to survive - what goes around, comes around.

What callous, selfish, immoral and inhumane way of thinking. Not only is 800,000 people a drop in the bucket but we owe it to humanity to help each other out. Screw your way of thinking!

I don't know about you, but if I was a dirt poor Arab in Algeria or Egypt or Lebanon and I knew free welfare for life awaited me in Sweden I'd damned sure be headed there.

Another wise contribution by Argus. They're all coming for our free welfare!

Your racism, bigotry and ignorance disgusts me. I take comfort to know that most Canadians don't think the way you do.

These people simply want a better life for themselves and their family. Why not seek it just like your ancestors and mine did by coming to Canada?

From Joe Brennan:

When you next ponder posting a 'funny' piss off we're full picture or a Britains First post about migrants being scum, parasites, swarm of thieves etc. look at this father with his child escaping from Syria and imagine looking him in the eye and pushing his boat back out to sea.

Hey...that guy has a nicer wrist watch than I do ! Didn't see such nice time pieces when the world watched 800,000 Rwandans get butchered.

Maybe he can put that watch above his family's head to shield them when the rockets from Assad/ISIS/Rebels/Nato are falling on them.

We didn't help the Rwandans, so we shouldn't help others. Sorry, turn your boats around and go live a miserable life and die.

No, just common sense. One likes to help others, of course, but self-preservation is more important. The countries these people come from are hellholes not because of the innocent land or animals, but because of the people themselves and their backward cultures and value systems. The more of them who come to Europe, the more Europe will come to resemble their old backward hellholes. In any event, most of them are not fleeing war, but poverty, seeking enrichment in Europe. If they were merely fleeing war they'd be satisfied with getting to Greece and Italy but they're not. They want to go north where there's more money..

Not only is 800,000 people a drop in the bucket but we owe it to humanity to help each other out.

No, we owe our children to preserve what we made for them, not to bury it in a mass of illiterate foreign goat herders who have no job skills, will never pay any taxes, and will sipmly fill up the Muslim ghetoes in France and England while venturing out for occasional rioting and raping.

Another wise contribution by Argus. They're all coming for our free welfare!

They're coming for personal enrichment, however they can get it. Welfare is not a concept in their home countries and they'll be delighted to go somewhere people will give them free money for no work. Having no command of the language, little education and no job skills, they'll in all likelhood be on it quite a while.

Your racism, bigotry and ignorance disgusts me.

Your inane reflexive Left wing sneer words just make me sad that someone can grow up in Canada and be so terribly unsophisticated.

Jerk your knee, little man. It doesn't bother me. Why would I care what a little anti-Semitic loser like you thinks of me?

Canada is dismally failing in accepting these refugees.

"When we learn of the origin of the latest drowning victims, it is clear that they are refugees. They are Syrians, Iraqis, Somalis, Afghans, Eritreans, Libyans — fleeing from the horrific civil strife and brutal repression in their homelands. If they reached our refugee hearing rooms, most would be recognized as refugees and granted protection. And for that very reason, the federal government’s focus has been on keeping people from getting here in the first place."

"By imposing a visa requirement on anyone coming from a country that has any situation of civil unrest or human rights violations and then refusing to issue visas: This forces refugee claimants into the hands of smugglers."

At one time, Canada was recognize as a humanitarian country protecting refugees. Not anymore.

I agree. The Canadian state should serve the interests of foreign refugees (legitimate and otherwise), not Canadians.

*Bangs Head Against Wall*

I knew there was a good reason I stopped posting here for such a long time. I guess this is what passes for pro bono political dialogue.

We should serve the interests of Canadians and refugees. We do have room for humanitarian efforts.

What a condescending remark. Are you interested in having a civil dialogue or are you just interested in posting your superior intellect?

"Women And Children's Issues".

Only a Marxist divides people along such lines. Only someone oblivious to the fact that the most ubiquitous and sacred institution of humanity across space and time is the family, which, over its life, necessarily includes at least one woman and child. Don't let that stop you from trying to atomize the family into its component parts and pits its members against one another.

Just a tip, telling people you're interested in the "issues" of a specific sex or age group is a great way to broadcast that you're unserious about politics.

You may very well have an intellect that eclipses mine. When it comes to knowledge and wisdom pertaining to the human condition, however....

Compartmentalizing people into group delineated by sex and age, and then framing society as composed of competing groups defined by those differences, tells us your political paradigm. That paradigm, while widespread and hugely harmful to society, isn't worthy of serious consideration. That's all I'm saying. Don't try to sell me that poison pill of my interests being at odds with different members of my family and those I care about and love based on differences in our chromosomes and years of birth.
