sharkman Posted June 4, 2015 Report Posted June 4, 2015 Basically, I think MH is allowed to do whatever he wants to keep things from getting out of hand. And he's allowed to define "out of hand" in whatever way he feels like, as long as it includes whatever the hell it is that would keep the forum from legal entanglements. So at the end of the day, you can demonstrate bigotry all day long, calling certain groups of people demeaning names as long as certain other groups that are politically correct are not demeaned. And along the way any time a poster gets offended WRT politically incorrect thought regarding gays, trannys, muslims, feminism, blacks and a few others, posts will be deleted without any explanation. However it's open season on Jews, christians, America in general, capitalism, whites, men and probably a few others. I wonder 2 things: What the hell does michael Hardner do for a living that he's got this much time on his hands, and second, is this really what Greg envisioned for his little political forum? And just to make sure this post doesn't disappear, Jews suck, down with America and Bruce Jenner is my hero. Quote

Michael Hardner Posted June 4, 2015 Report Posted June 4, 2015 Requiring links/citations for every "fact" we claim will take so long it will bring the forums to a slow crawl. I don't see a problem with the way thing have always been. If you want to make your argument more convincing, provide links. If someone asks for a link on request, consider it, though it should never be necessary, only optional. This forum has gone loopy the last couple of weeks. And if we're going to go by the book when it comes to the rules, you should be worrying a lot more about BC's perpetual trolling than lack of cites. trolling? I've been away for a tad... whether subjective, or not, is there a definition that has been provided... that now exists for member reference/guidance? Some questions in the Caitlyn Jenner thread. Trolling is defined as thus in the Rules & Guidelines: We define "trolling" as a message that serves no constructive purpose and is likely to cause offence or arguments. We define "annoying" as any message that results in a complaint from a registered user -- we will then decide whether to take action. I have had more time on here lately, which means I see more and act more. There's no change in rules. Some of the perceived change seems to have come from my removal of a shocking image (aborted fetus) and the resurfaced question of whether links are absolutely required. ( They're not but you're expected to back up your facts. ) Quote Click to learn why Climate Change is caused by HUMANS Michael Hardner
Michael Hardner Posted June 4, 2015 Report Posted June 4, 2015 ...calling certain groups of people demeaning names as long as certain other groups that are politically correct are not demeaned. If you have a specific example then I'd like to hear it. Pretty much the #1 complaint we have is about a certain type of criticism of Canadian attitudes, and the idea that the moderators refuse to deal with trolling etc. And along the way any time a poster gets offended WRT politically incorrect thought regarding gays, trannys, muslims, feminism, blacks and a few others, posts will be deleted without any explanation. If you have an example then that would be helpful. We try to notify people when posts are deleted but most of those should be obvious, eg. "LOL !!!!" However it's open season on Jews, christians, America in general, capitalism, whites, men and probably a few others. We have suspended a poster most recently for making an insult towards Jews in a post lately, but not against the other groups you mentioned above. Since you don't see what we remove, I don't know why you can be so sure about your opinions here. I definitely want to hear about it. I have identified myself as a Christian on here, so I'm surprised to hear that you think I'm biased against that group. I wonder 2 things: What the hell does michael Hardner do for a living that he's got this much time on his hands, I'm a husband, a participant and volunteer in five arts project, a volunteer, a blogger and a facilitator. I manage peoples' time for a living, and really I'm not on here that much. In the morning, during lunch, after work for a spell and between meetings when I can squeeze it in. Calling someone "toots" when that person does not want to be called "toots" would seem to me an appropriate time to delete a post. So suck it up and move on. I didn't repeatedly use the term toots, and now I'm just making an observation. If the subject matter doesn't appeal to you, that's life I guess. Quote
msj Posted June 4, 2015 Report Posted June 4, 2015 (edited) I have no problem with the any subject matter. I think any "offensive" idea should be discussed. However, to call someone "toots" when that person has asked you not to is rude and I think it would be reasonable to delete such a post just for lacking basic manners. Now, if you focus on ideas rather than making up nicknames to irritate people, and that post is deleted, then by all means continue your complaint. sharkman Posted June 5, 2015 Report Posted June 5, 2015 Again, I didn't repeatedly use the term. I'm not sure how many times you need to read that. As for basic manners, you've been rather rude at times when the mood strikes you, perhaps you should watch your own behaviour instead of lecturing others, I'll continue when and how I see fit. Quote

As for basic manners, you've been rather rude at times when the mood strikes you, perhaps you should watch your own behaviour instead of lecturing others, I'll continue when and how I see fit. Why do you keep saying you didn't repeatedly use it. No one is saying that as far as I can read. However, you called me toots and I told you not to and you said "why not, I call my wife toots". And I said 'because I'm not your wife'. Now, if you continue to call women toots (other than your wife and even there you should refrain) you can expect to be called out on it whether it's on a forum, in the workplace or even on a date, although I hope most men evolved past that. msj Posted June 5, 2015 Report Posted June 5, 2015 Now, I will say women do like to be called hon, babe, sexy but not toots. Right. I will walk into my office tomorrow and say "good morning sexy" to my secretary and she's gonna luv it! WestCoastRunner Posted June 5, 2015 Report Posted June 5, 2015 (edited) Right. I will walk into my office tomorrow and say "good morning sexy" to my secretary and she's gonna luv it! For crying out loud. I think you know what I meant with that comment. If I need to spell it out..... And I didn't think they were called secretaries anymore? Didn't you give her a more contemporary title like 'right hand' or 'assistant'. I haven't heard the term secretary in ages. You must be a mad men fan or you like to keep women in a subservient role. msj Posted June 5, 2015 Report Posted June 5, 2015 My previous one liked to be called my "office wife." This one is too young for that so I call her my chief administrator officer. cybercoma Posted June 5, 2015 Report Posted June 5, 2015 Now, if you continue to call women toots (other than your wife and even there you should refrain)Not to get way off topic, but if his wife takes it as a term of endearment then it's not really your place to tell him that he shouldn't call her that. Their relationship is their relationship to do with as they please. If she consents to being called that and even enjoys it, then more power to her. I have to wonder, though, how she would feel knowing her husband is calling other women online by her pet name. Quote

sharkman Posted June 5, 2015 Report Posted June 5, 2015 Not to complicate things, but I've got an update in that department. Now I'm back to mostly calling my wife hon, and she's the one using toots on me. And I like it. I hope that doesn't make me some kind of sicko. Quote
