Another Trudeau Gaffe

Recommended Posts

Argus that is what I have wondered ,why? Is it white guilt?

The Left always makes decisions on emotion. They see poor people fleeing... whatever it is, and they get all weepy and feel guilty if they don't do something. So they make grandiose offers (with other people's money) in order to make themselves feel better about how generous and noble they are.

Saw another item on the flood of illegal immigrants on the CBC this evening, detailing the usual route the Syrians, Iraqis and Afghanis take, which is from Turkey, by ferry to Greece, then up through Macedonia and Serbia and Hungary, headed for the richer countries in northern Europe.

They're perfectly safe in Turkey. They're perfectly safe in Greece, or in Hungary. They don't WANT to be there. They want to be where the money is.

By the way, neither Trudeau nor Mulcair are saying a thing. They know this is a vote loser. But I have no doubt whatsoever that either of them in power would want to make some grandiose gesture that we'll take in many tens of thousands of middle east economic refugees, who will get to bypass all those waiting in line, and who won't have to worry about job skills or education.

So trudeau rips harper for a deficit and then says it will be yrs before he pays off the deficit. This boy just doesn't have a clue.

"this boy" - please sir, that is yet another of your repeated purposeful use of a denigrating label. Reported!

and yes, 7 straight deficits from Harper Conservatives... and a projected PBO $1.5 billion deficit for this year. Trudeau has stated that until (I paraphrase) understanding just what a mess Harper has left, projecting a deficit lacks required information.

Clearly been learning from Dalton McGuinty, who said the same thing, then lied through his teeth over the next ten years to excuse why his deficits never shrank despite ever increasing taxes.

It just does not end with this guy. How anyone could even think of voting liberal is mind boggling. Where does he stand??

That's easy, Pik. Now that Stats Can has confirmed multiple recessions on Harper's watch, choosing Trudeau or Mulcair becomes an economy-saving civic duty.

Another over hyped product of the left wing media. What do you think would have happened if one of those 2 were in power. We would be in major trouble right now. The world is in a recession and it affects everyone. To bad tom or justin did not understand that. They are lying thru their teeth if they think they could do better under these circumstances. If tom gets in watch how the markets react. It wont be pretty.

If you think the world is in recession ad you are using that as an excuse for Harper's poor performance, you better think again and get back to us. The LPC has the record for balancing budgets and Trudeau has had the good sense to get one of the lead architects of such performance as his right hand man on economic matters. Now as he says, it's a matter of seeing just how bare Harper has left the cupboard.

Balancing the budget on the backs of the provinces has had repercussions that are still felt in provinces and cities today. But much more worrisome, Justin Trudeau cannot help but be a reflection of his father - who had the same "damn the torpedoes" mentality - and rang up debts and deficits to incredible levels - where once there were none. We're seeing just the tip of that same arrogance with his recent acceptance of tens of billions in deficits for the foreseeable future. But not to worry - the budget will balance itself.

Well is sees it won't balance itself even with Harper's "help" so time to maybe get someone in there who has a track record.

It's not the party who sets the tone - it's the leader. I don't care if the budget ends up "out of balance" by a billion or two or three. What I care about is the mindset to have a balanced budget. Trudeau, learning at the knee of his father, has no such mindset - as we are quickly finding out.

Well that's not what he says. And with Martin's help he may well get back to a balance after he see what Harper has left behind.

He'll go into deficit by ten billion each year until 2019 AND fund any and all promises he's making out on the campaign trail.....and now you're looking at an 80 year old guy who's not in government to "help"? Good luck with that. Like father, like son.....it's pretty well inevitable.

Harper and the CPC have their economic history, and Martin and the LPC have theirs. They speak for themselves.

All Martin did was hurt the provinces big time. Anybody could have done the job martin did. So who will be trudeaus finace minister if he won for some dumb reason. Chrystia Freeland is who I am betting on.

Chrystia Freeland is a terrifying person. Still better than Adam Vaughan though.

All Harper did was rack the country's debt to unheard of heights. Anybody could have done that. How he managed to do that while other G7's were growing is what is unique to Harper.

Come on Guard you know damn well your guy wanted a lot more spent, just like they want to do now. Chretien/ martin were in power when everything was going great. Harper has had to deal with severe world crisis and has done a great job.

Politicians can describe Canada’s modest economic decline in the first half of 2015 any way they want — recession, technical recession, mild economic downturn.

But one thing it isn’t, or shouldn’t be, is an excuse for government to plunge taxpayers back into deficit.

Statistics Canada released its second quarter GDP numbers for Canada Tuesday. As expected, the national economy declined a little. It declined somewhat for two straight quarters (January to June), in fact, which economists say is technically a recession. But the number crunchers can’t really agree on what to call it exactly, mostly because the latest economic downturn is unlike any they’ve seen in recent years.

During the 2008-09 recession, Canada saw widespread economic decline. Unemployment jumped 2.5%, exports plummeted and household spending dipped. People were losing their jobs.

It was a deep recession, ergo the qualifier “Great” Recession. It was part of a major global financial meltdown, including in the United States — Canada’s largest trading partner — and it cried out for government intervention.

Not this one.

Canada’s unemployment rate has been stable at 6.8% for the past six months (we’ll get an August update Friday). Employment was up 0.9% in July compared to the same month in 2014. Consumer spending has been robust. Even exports were up slightly in the second quarter of this year with a razor-thin growth of 0.1%.

If this is recession, I’ll take it any day.

Great article that explains what really went on with this so called recession.

You mean by increasing the GST to 7% again, increasing income taxes to where they were under Martin, and drastically slashing transfers to the provinces, public service jobs and federal programs? Is that what you think Trudeau is going to do?

I don't know what he is going to do as he hasn't said yet. But he has said he is willing to carry 3 planned deficits would hint that he won't do what you are suggesting.
