bush_cheney2004 Posted May 27, 2014 Report Posted May 27, 2014 I disagree - it's quite relevant, and I think a lot of African Americans would agree. Probably more relevant than having Canadians discuss an American issue, for that matter, since they actually live there. LOL ! That's the spirit....would Canadians fancy Americans determining policy for a Canadian issue ? Quote Economics trumps Virtue.
Wilber Posted May 27, 2014 Report Posted May 27, 2014 These are LEGALLY obtained firearms. You don't think that could be the problem? Legally or illegally obtained, those kids are just as dead. Quote "Never trust a man who has not a single redeeming vice". WSC
Wilber Posted May 27, 2014 Report Posted May 27, 2014 Infringing on Americans' constitutional rights to own and bear arms is not a cure for mental illness. The guns aren't going away...get use to it. Many would consider American's obsession with guns a type of mental illness. Quote "Never trust a man who has not a single redeeming vice". WSC

GostHacked Posted May 27, 2014 Report Posted May 27, 2014 You don't think that could be the problem? Legally or illegally obtained, those kids are just as dead. And banning guns or restricting them will NOT prevent another attack. We have more people dying by gang activity in LA daily than we see mass murders like this in a month. The bigger problem is still illegally obtained weapons used in crimes and murders. Quote

They have so much in common and are so inter-related that it's hard to keep totally away from each others affairs. That's just reality. Black Dog Posted May 27, 2014 Report Posted May 27, 2014 This guy killed the first three people with a knife, not a gun. And he ran over several more victims with his car. As you already stated. The point is...what? Quote
monty16 Posted May 27, 2014 Author Report Posted May 27, 2014 Infringing on Americans' constitutional rights to own and bear arms is not a cure for mental illness. The guns aren't going away...get use to it. I don't think I can ever get used to it when a whole bunch of American children are slaughtered in their school by a gun. What would you expect us to do, laugh about it and look forward to the next shooting? And even if they only started to shoot the boys I still wouldn't be able to get used to it. Even though I've heard it said that that's one less or nineteen less innocent Muslims that won't get shot. Let's not get used to it. If Americans don't care about the alsughter of their children in their schools, we can still care. Quote

Spiderfish Posted May 27, 2014 Report Posted May 27, 2014 As you already stated. The point is...what? The point is that regardless of how silly you think the analogy of banning knives or BMW'S is, a gun ban would be about as effective in preventing this guy's actions. Guns were only one of his several weapons of choice. Quote

bush_cheney2004 Posted May 27, 2014 Report Posted May 27, 2014 O.k., you've convinced me, I don't care. There are millions of Americans citizens trying to regulate and ban guns without much success. The opposite is happening as U.S. courts affirm constitutional rights. This is a wedge issue in the U.S., but a more philosophical battle for other nationals who think they can "tame America" to their own liking. Quote Economics trumps Virtue.

Yep and we can see just how "successful" that lack of success is with each new mass murder. Apparently this latest whack job was able to go shopping at at least 3 different gun shops and purchase his arsenal withy nary a problem even though he had already been diagnosed as mentally ill. It wouldn't surprise me if the NRA suggested the "fix" for this latest would be to arm all university students. Quote
