bush_cheney2004 Posted May 1, 2014 Report Posted May 1, 2014 Apparently you haven't been watching the news of late. That's not news...the convict was still pronounced dead. Next ! Quote Economics trumps Virtue.

The_Squid Posted May 1, 2014 Report Posted May 1, 2014 Ultimately, Mr. Clayton Lockett, convicted of murder, rape, and kidnapping.....died from a heart attack, just like millions of other Americans. Except first he was tortured... Quote
Bryan Posted May 1, 2014 Report Posted May 1, 2014 Except first he was tortured... You might want to look up the definitions of words before you post them. The execution took longer than planned, that's all. Lockett raped his victims and buried one of them alive -- THAT is torture. Quote
bleeding heart Posted May 1, 2014 Report Posted May 1, 2014 I don't agree with the death penalty, but I think principled arguments can be, and are, made for it. But delighting in torture? That's for moral weaklings and losers. It's akin to those who say that prison rape is a kind of rough justice...that is, siding wholeheartedly with rapists and predators. In this case, siding with torturers and sadists. Good job. Quote “There is a limit to how much we can constantly say no to the political masters in Washington. All we had was Afghanistan to wave. On every other file we were offside. Eventually we came onside on Haiti, so we got another arrow in our quiver." --Bill Graham, Former Canadian Foreign Minister, 2007
bush_cheney2004 Posted May 1, 2014 Report Posted May 1, 2014 Except first he was tortured... So ? Sucks to be convicted and sentenced to death for a capital crime, eh ? Cause of death was acute myocardial infarction, not torture. Quote Economics trumps Virtue.
Big Guy Posted May 2, 2014 Author Report Posted May 2, 2014 So ? Sucks to be convicted and sentenced to death for a capital crime, eh ? Cause of death was acute myocardial infarction, not torture. Something like a botched occasion of water boarding? Quote Note - For those expecting a response from Big Guy: I generally do not read or respond to posts longer then 300 words nor to parsed comments.
Shady Posted May 2, 2014 Report Posted May 2, 2014 Something like a botched occasion of water boarding? No such thing. There's no chemicals needed for water boarding, and not injections. I can't feel too bad for the guy. He shot a 19 year old girl and then buried her.while she was still alive. So his death took a few extra minutes. It was a mistake. But it couldn't have happened to a more deserving person. Quote
Argus Posted May 2, 2014 Report Posted May 2, 2014 Except first he was tortured... Very fitting, given he raped and tortured his teenage victim before burying her alive. Quote "A liberal is someone who claims to be open to all points of view — and then is surprised and offended to find there are other points of view.” William F Buckley
Argus Posted May 2, 2014 Report Posted May 2, 2014 Statements like that indicate you are as sick as the crazy bastard they killed. Oh go snivel and whine elsewhere. I'm as sick as a rapist murderer because I feel no sympathy for his end? Why don't you just write in big, block letters that you have no judgement whatsoever and are proud of it? On Guard for Thee Posted May 2, 2014 Report Posted May 2, 2014 So ? Sucks to be convicted and sentenced to death for a capital crime, eh ? Cause of death was acute myocardial infarction, not torture. It does in the United States apparently, Law and order? There's a thing called the *th Amendment. Ever heard of it? I wonder how many innocent people you right wing whack jobs have already torturted? Once again. Thank God for that border. Quote

On Guard for Thee Posted May 2, 2014 Report Posted May 2, 2014 I suppose somebody is going to drone on to me about this "eye for an eye" crap. Save it for someone who has a bevelled forehead and likes to kill and torture and justifies it by slipping a few bucks into the collection plate on a Sunday. Quote

Last year, Canadians made about 55,000,000 trips across the border into the U.S. I guess lower prices and better weather trump any concerns about torture. That's laughable. We stopped torturing people like that in 1961. We do go there for the good weather though. It's a good thing you're not in control of that. Quote

Didn't some innocent Polish guy get taser tortured in the Vancouver airport just a few years ago ? He didn't even get a trial....ZZZZZZOTTTTTTTTTT !!!!! Quote Economics trumps Virtue.
On Guard for Thee Posted May 2, 2014 Report Posted May 2, 2014 You are associating that with having the death penalty? Please! Quote
bush_cheney2004 Posted May 2, 2014 Report Posted May 2, 2014 You are associating that with having the death penalty? Please! No, just torture. The fact that the RCMP executed Robert Dziekański and tried to lie about it is just icing on the cake. Quote Economics trumps Virtue.
On Guard for Thee Posted May 2, 2014 Report Posted May 2, 2014 No, just torture. The fact that the RCMP executed Robert Dziekański and tried to lie about it is just icing on the cake. Well then here's the actual cake. It's fairly simple. You can kill somebody here, get convicted but you don't get killed, unlike what happens down there. You can even get tortured to death down there So maybe you'd think we'd be killing each other like crazy with only the fear of becoming a guest of the state for a number of years. But it just ain't so. Not even close. About 1/65th actually, after you correct for population density. Wallow in the mud all ya want. Quote
bush_cheney2004 Posted May 2, 2014 Report Posted May 2, 2014 Oh, so it's OK to taser torture and kill immigrants in Canada with no due process at all ? I guess that does save money, eh ? Quote Economics trumps Virtue.
carepov Posted May 2, 2014 Report Posted May 2, 2014 I agree with your first point, and that's why I could never advocate the death penalty as a choice for the court system, but if there was a way of knowing beyond any doubt that a person was guilty, I can't think of a reason to leave them alive. Here's a couple of good reasons for not executing a known killer: 1. Killing is wrong (except in self defence) and two wrongs don't make a right 2. The death penalty lessens the value of life in society I can't think of any good reasons to support the death penalty. Quote

Executing people who do that is right. 2) Not executing those who murder others cheapens the lives of their victims. Quote

Thge first part of your comment is as stupid as I've heard from you so I won't comment. Those cops did go through due process. Try and keep up. Quote
