On Guard for Thee Posted May 7, 2014 Report Posted May 7, 2014 Off topic....your typical anti-American rant. There will always be more Americans than Canadians....always have been. I'm not anti American, I just have issues with the death penalty. I'm not sure what the population number has to do with anything. Is it because you believe that if more people believe it then it must be true? Drink the Kool Aid. (no don't) Quote

Americans have been killing themselves for a very long time, with the death penalty being a drop in the bucket. Many people in Canada (polled majority referenced above) and the U.S. support capital punishment. Quote Economics trumps Virtue.

Yes he is...Canada no longer automatically requests clemency for condemned perps in other nations, as in the case of Ronald Allen Smith in Montana. Helloooo. I'm talking about what happens on Canadian soil. I say again, Harper wouldn't touch it with a barge pole. Quote

bush_cheney2004 Posted May 7, 2014 Report Posted May 7, 2014 Are you having a conversation with yourself ? The point is that your government no longer automatically seeks clemency for condemned prisoners, recognizing the popular sentiment in Canada. That's recognition and respect for the criminal justice systems in other nations. Quote Economics trumps Virtue.
Argus Posted May 7, 2014 Report Posted May 7, 2014 And that one has no death penalty. That's one of the jewels in our crown. You continue to presume you speak for all Canadians. I believe Harper would support Capital Punishment, as would the majority of his party. But he doesn't think the issue is important enough to merit the huge fuss and distraction from the economic issues he feels are more important. Well, he is an economist.
