Big Guy Posted April 2, 2014 Report Posted April 2, 2014 The recent Shakespearean tragedy that has already seen Mr. Soudas fired as executive director of the Conservative Party and now threatens to have Ms. Adams blocked as a potential candidate in the riding of Oakville North Burlington continues to entertain. Is this a matter of love blinding decision making or blind ambition thwarting common sense? Is this the swan song of both Eve and Dimitri? Is this yet another example of Conservative attempt at intimidation? Does anybody really care? On Guard for Thee Posted April 3, 2014 Report Posted April 3, 2014 I bet Steve Harper is caring a bit right now. He seems to be acquiring a record of bad choices of the people he wants around him. Quote
Topaz Posted April 3, 2014 Report Posted April 3, 2014 In 2011 election she's tried to claim as expenses $2777.00 of which is $424.80 salon and spa charges, day care, dry cleaning cost, a cupcake, a steakhouse meal and EC won't accept these. I wonder what she'll try this time around? Quote
Big Guy Posted April 3, 2014 Author Report Posted April 3, 2014 Looks like Eve has a short temper and a long sense of entitlement; "In January, a Conservative supporter in Ottawa complained to the PMO about the way she conducted herself at his place of business during an incident on a cold morning late last year. "Gas station owner John Newcombe said Adams, who was upset over a $6 car wash she deemed unsatisfactory, used her car to partially block access to the refuelling area at his west-end Esso station for 15 minutes last December. "I was absolutely outraged," Newcombe told The Canadian Press in an interview. "I couldn't believe it. I had never experienced anything like this in 40 years of business." Looks like Eve Adams and Dimitri Soudas should get in touch with Helena Guergis and Rahim Jaffer. Don't mess with the Harper PMO!!! kimmy Posted April 3, 2014 Report Posted April 3, 2014 Who blocks off 2 lanes of a gas station for 15 minutes because they were dissatisfied with a $6 car wash? Does anybody here know an adult who would do something like that? The CBC panel discussion I saw yesterday kind of snickered at the idea that a $6 car wash is national news and asked whether the news media is screwing up by reporting this. On its own it wouldn't be, but in light of other issues surrounding her, it might be. One member of the panel said that a lot of waiters and servers in downtown Ottawa have bad stories about Eve Adams. Somebody on the panel said that she shouted "I'm a Member of Parliament!" at the gas station owner, which ... what can you say about that? She sounds like she's still stuck in high-school. -k Quote (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻ Friendly forum facilitator! ┬──┬◡ノ(° -°ノ)
Boges Posted April 3, 2014 Report Posted April 3, 2014 She was certainly a success story back in 2011. She won one of those 905/GTA ridings that was a Liberal stronghold previously. She's also rather easy on the eyes so it's easy to see why she can be thought of as an rising star of the party. Quote

The_Squid Posted April 3, 2014 Report Posted April 3, 2014 Glad they are gone and it shows harper will not meddle in who gets to run, unlike the liberal party. Harper appointed her to be Parliamentary Secretary for Veterans Affairs. Even after she was charging the spa and cupcakes as campaign expenses. MP Adams is in a long list of Harper's failed appointments that shows his lack of judgement. Quote

Meaning women and minorities that are elected to the HoC are far more likely to given a cabinet appointment than a white male from Alberta or rural Ontario. Quote

cybercoma Posted April 3, 2014 Report Posted April 3, 2014 I'm not sure how the Conservatives go about things, but for me this issue comes down to this. If her riding association has an open process where members vote for their candidate and she wins that nomination process, the federal arm of the party should not block that nomination except in the most extreme cases. What would be an extreme case? A situation where a nominee brings in so many people that it completely undermines the party itself. A situation so bad that the federal party needs to disband the riding association. Otherwise, the nomination should stand. I have no idea what has happened here however. Did Adams win the nomination in her riding fairly? Is the party brass trying to parachute in a candidate without a nomination process? I don't see much information on those things. Quote
PIK Posted April 3, 2014 Report Posted April 3, 2014 (edited) Not a good excuse. It is the best excuse to what is wrong with the country. When forced to hire people base on race, sex, language, the number of candidates drops big time and you end up with the wrong people. But anyways I just listened to a interview with the owner of the car wash and she is quite the unit and he even said he votes conservative , so he is not being dishonest about this. On Guard for Thee Posted April 3, 2014 Report Posted April 3, 2014 I find it a bit of a head scratcher when I think back to how staunchly Harper tried to defend Nigel Wright until the roof finally caved in, and how quickly he threw Soudas under the bus and how quickly the PMO is onto her. Did she try and bill for that 6 dollar car wash I wonder? Quote
cybercoma Posted April 4, 2014 Report Posted April 4, 2014 Turned on her as quickly as he turned on Guergis. I wonder if they have anything in common, compared to Nigel Wright and the criminals he put in the Senate. Quote

Nigel Wright and the Tory Senators were dispatched from the CPC and/or government rather quickly as well. Quote
Big Guy Posted April 5, 2014 Author Report Posted April 5, 2014 Instead of disappearing quietly into the wings the Eve-Dimitri power couple have gone rogue. Eve has gone public to say that she is still going to get that nomination (the one that Harper would have to sign) and Dimitri is running her campaign. Harper has just come back to Canada ready to bask in his very public and successful foreign adventure and Eve and Dimitri have grabbed the headlines. Looks to me like they both have a political death wish. Does anybody really think that this used-to-be power couple will end up "winning" and making Harper look like loser? So long, its been good to know ya! Quote Note - For those expecting a response from Big Guy: I generally do not read or respond to posts longer then 300 words nor to parsed comments.
hitops Posted April 7, 2014 Report Posted April 7, 2014 Sounds like Eve won the riding last time, but because of lower appeal this time, it's a borderline riding at risk to lose. She wanted to try to run in a different riding that was safer to win. Neither the PM nor riding association is on board though. Quote
