Black Dog Posted October 27, 2014 Author Report Posted October 27, 2014 Voting right after work. Don't usually care about school board races as I have no kids, but one of the TDSB candidates in my ward has been under a pretty intense campaign by some anonymous racists. Pretty gross and, IMO, underreported aspect of this campaign. Quote

cybercoma Posted October 28, 2014 Report Posted October 28, 2014 Doug Ford sitting at 36% of the vote. Uhh....what!? Quote
Boges Posted October 28, 2014 Report Posted October 28, 2014 (edited) What's the story Mayor Tory? Really close though. Much closer than the polls. Edited October 28, 2014 by Boges Quote

cybercoma Posted October 28, 2014 Report Posted October 28, 2014 (edited) What's the story Mayor Tory? Really close though. Much closer than the polls.@308dotcom: Polling average: Tory 43%, Ford 32%, Chow 22%. Result: Tory 40%, Ford 34%, Chow 23%. Really not that bad at all for the polls in #topoli. @308dotcom: In terms of the Toronto polls, small over-estimation of Tory support, but all pretty much on the money, within the MOE. Black Dog Posted October 28, 2014 Author Report Posted October 28, 2014 Lead will open wider as midtown results come in. Quote
Topaz Posted October 28, 2014 Report Posted October 28, 2014 In my view , two things help Tory, one the other people running and the fact more viewers, got to know him better by watching him on "Focus Ontario" on Sundays. Quote
Boges Posted October 28, 2014 Report Posted October 28, 2014 You do know he had a rush-hour radio talk show pretty much since he was turfed from Provincial Politics. Quote
Black Dog Posted October 28, 2014 Author Report Posted October 28, 2014 So despite a staggeringly high voter turnout, almost no incumbents went down. The mayor's chair went from a rich white conservative guy to a more genteel rich white conservative guy. Rob Ford, despite being riddled with cancer, won his old council seat handily. Four years of this sideshow, an almost year long campaign and almost nothing has changed: the city is on the same path it started upon in October 2010. SMDH. Quote

guyser Posted October 28, 2014 Report Posted October 28, 2014 Why? He got smoked (pun intended)Thankfully that blowhard is gone from the City. DoFo did provide some funny commentary this morning, he said, and I quote' We've changed politics across this country'. As if Dumbass , as if. Now hopefully we get this city moving and dont hear from any of them for awhile. That electoral map may as well be an IQ test, lots of stupid people in Scarberia and north Etobicoke. Quote

Black Dog Posted October 28, 2014 Author Report Posted October 28, 2014 So more than 3/4 of the people who voted. Sounds about right. Of course, most of those people are probably just ignorant (as is in not really paying attention) and just wanted the Ford's out. Quote
Boges Posted October 28, 2014 Report Posted October 28, 2014 Tory got endorsements from all four major dailies and all the major players from the Ontario Liberal party. I hope you're considering them as the cabal of the ignorant. Quote

Boges Posted October 28, 2014 Report Posted October 28, 2014 (edited) I thought we were talking about voters. The power brokers and your friends at the OLP have their own reasons to support JT. Well look at Mississauga, one endorsement can go a long way in swaying voters, it seems. Tory pretty much got all the major ones. It's pretty harsh to call any voter that doesn't do a personal costing of all Tory's election promises completely ignorant. Edited October 28, 2014 by Boges Quote
