Hudson Jones Posted January 29, 2014 Report Posted January 29, 2014 (edited) The company hired by the B.C. government to do the environmental assessment in B.C. was banned by the world bank for corruption. Here is the Burnaby mayor sharing his assessment of the situation: Edited January 29, 2014 by Hudson Jones Quote When I despair, I remember that all through history the way of truth and love have always won. GostHacked Posted January 29, 2014 Report Posted January 29, 2014 So this ties in with the corruption in Montreal? Possibly connected to the mayors there? I really like this guy, clear, articulate and states what is really going on. We need more people like this in public office. Quote
Topaz Posted January 30, 2014 Report Posted January 30, 2014 The Montreal com[pany has been in the news for months now and one of the directors is Hugh Segal PC senator and I'm not saying he's guilty of anything but his name has been toss around in the online news sites. http://o.canada.com/news/snc-lavalin-canadian-companies-world-bank-blacklist/ Quote
Hudson Jones Posted January 30, 2014 Author Report Posted January 30, 2014 Regarding the company, SNC-Lavalin: There is former CEO Pierre Duhaime's arrest by the RCMP last year over allegations of misspent funds that may have ended up as bribe money for projects in Montreal and Africa, and his re-arrest earlier this year on corruption charges linked to allegations of bribery involving the McGill University Health Centre in Montreal. There are the allegations of a ridiculously cozy relationship with the late Libyan dictatorMoammar Gaddafi, right down to offers of cushy executive board positions to the dictator's relatives, and allegations that the company tried to smuggle one of Gaddafi's sons into Mexico during the recent upheaval that left the dictator dead. The allegations of bribery against the company stretch from Bangladesh to Algeria to Montreal. At Quebec's inquiry into corruption in the construction industry, the company admitted to illegally raising funds for politicians in the province. jacee Posted January 30, 2014 Report Posted January 30, 2014 SNC-Lavalin is doing an environmental assessment?? Quote
bud Posted January 30, 2014 Report Posted January 30, 2014 SNC-Lavalin is doing an environmental assessment?? that's one of the services they provide. At a recent council meeting, he made his comments regarding Port Metro Vancouver's decision to hire SNC Lavalin to conduct an environmental-impact assessment. The Montreal-based engineering company gave a thumbs-up to Surrey Fraser Docks' proposed Direct Transfer Coal Facility. "Over and over again, we see decisions being made by bodies who are not independent," he said. "Port Metro Vancouver is conducting this environmental assessment. The majority of directors on Port Metro Vancouver are appointed by the very companies that stand to economically benefit from these decisions. "And so here you've got a board of directors, appointed by the companies, that is in charge of the environmental assessment to determine whether they're going to make more money," Corrigan continued. "So they go out and hire SNC Lavalin to do the report for them." link Quote http://whoprofits.org/
