GostHacked Posted June 25, 2013 Report Posted June 25, 2013 So, you think I'm in favour of Minority Report ? Um. It's science fiction, so... Some of it is still science fiction. http://eyetracker.com.au/services/market-research/media-and-advertising-research/ Quote
GostHacked Posted June 25, 2013 Report Posted June 25, 2013 Huh? Snowden revealed the extent of the spy program to everyone. Now because he may be giving up info to another nation, is allowing people to complain about the second action while completely ignoring the first and major reason this story exists in the first place. Guest American Woman Posted June 25, 2013 Report Posted June 25, 2013 (edited) Why are we still talking about Snowden's character? It's utterly irrelevant and painfully naive to believe he would flee to any country that has a good relationship with the US. He's not going to head to the UK, Canada, or Germany. He would be extradited in a heartbeat. He's fleeing persecution. By fleeing "persecution," he's evidently fine with living in a worse situation than the country/government he 'exposed.' I doubt he'll be speaking out about China's, Russia's, or Ecuador's governments' actions any time soon. It's painfully naive not to see that. There's a reason why these countries don't have a good relationship with the U.S. - and there's a reason why those who do would extradite him. Furthermore, if he had done what he did in the countries he's now cozying up with, there's no doubt he'd be facing the charges that he is in the U.S.; most likely, much worse. Hudson Jones Posted June 25, 2013 Author Report Posted June 25, 2013 A man risks his safety and security to expose his government's secret spying system, which is being done on its people and there are actually some who are calling him a traitor for the exposure, instead of being furious that their government is doing this. The NSA/FBI/CIA failed to stop this attack, even when... 1 - the Russian government warned the US about these two. 2 - based on that information the FBI tracked them for some time. Even when given proper information, they still failed. Quote
Shady Posted June 25, 2013 Report Posted June 25, 2013 The issue is the NSA spying program, not Snowden. Why would his leaking classified information to hostile foreign governments not also be an issue? Quote

GostHacked Posted June 25, 2013 Report Posted June 25, 2013 Why would his leaking classified information to hostile foreign governments not also be an issue? Of course that is a problem. But as we see with the title up top, this is about the NSA spy program. As treasonous as leaking info to another country may be, the first and foremost issue which only a couple here seem to still 'get it' is the NSA. At first the government tells us the program does not exist . . . Quote
dre Posted June 25, 2013 Report Posted June 25, 2013 “Mr. Snowden’s claim that he is focused on supporting transparency, freedom of the press and protection of individual rights and democracy is belied by the protectors he has potentially chosen: China, Russia, Ecuador, as we’ve seen,” Mr. Carney said. “His failure to criticize these regimes suggests that his true motive throughout has been to injure the national security of the United States not to advance Internet freedom and free speech.” Pretty stupid statement. This whole claim that the fact he went to Russia/China/Cuba/Equador somehow impunes his motive is really quite retarded... Its not like he has a lot of options when it comes to countries that wont extradite him back to the US to stand trial for telling people the truth about their government. Guest American Woman Posted June 25, 2013 Report Posted June 25, 2013 Pretty stupid statement. This judgement coming from someone whose criticism includes "retarded" is really quite funny. Its not like he has a lot of options when it comes to countries that wont extradite him back to the US to stand trial for telling people the truth about their government. So why didn't he stick around in China and tell the Chinese people the truth about their government? Think he'll do that in Russia? Still up in the air where he'll end up next, but where ever it is, I'm betting he won't be "telling people the truth about their government." You think otherwise? Quote
