punked
So Ryan's budget is coming out soon and it is already a messaging disaster. Fox news called Ryan out already on it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=OaPcjjStIAo Republicans are being called out on Running on "Obama is cutting Medicare" remember the election Ryan just ran saying that over and over and over again. His new budget embraces those cuts.....well because.....He is flip flopper I guess. Oh Ryan also uses that tax increase Republicans said was going to destroy America from the fiscal fight. More flips and flops. "Everyone is under-appreciating just how outrageous this is. For the second time in a row, Paul Ryan and the GOP have run a national election campaign in which the main theme was bashing the Democrats for a policy which Republicans support." http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/plum-line/wp/2013/03/11/what-do-you-do-when-one-party-is-this-dishonest/?tid=socialss#.UT8VASL9ues.reddit Ryan says Republicans wont "give up on destroying the Healthcare system" that will play well. Obama and Democrats need a real opposition with real ideas not this. This is bad for America. Edited March 12, 2013 by punked
Shady
Ryan's budget is a good starting point for negotiations. Now that senate Democrats have finally decided to pass a budget (the first time in 4 years) there can finally be a budget reconciliation process. I think Ryan's budget is more than fair. It increases federal spending by 3.5% each year, instead of the projected 5%, and balances in years.

kimmy
Who is Paul Ryan? Dishwashing expert. I actually read through his budget last night. While he talks about how awesome it'll be to have lower deficits and lower interest payments, he has no concrete suggestions on how to get on his "Path to Prosperity". His "Path to Prosperity" isn't a plan of action, it's just a green line on his graphs that shows lower deficits. And then he goes through many pages talking about challenges facing America and declares generic libertarian principles to be the answer to everything. Problem: tuition fees are rising out of control! Solution: Freedom! Liberty! Problem: slow economic growth! Solution: Deregulation! Empower the job creators! Problem: Medicare is unsustainable! Solution: Choice! Rugged individualism! There's really not much to talk about. -k

punked
You may not have read the actual budget. The actual budget is very detailed. How did the CBO score it? If I remember correctly they said his last budget would blow a 3 Trillion dollar whole in the budget is this one more or less?

Anyways, that would still be less than the $6 trillion hole that Obama's blown. Ryan's budget has yet to be scored, as has the senate Democrats budget. The president will eventfully release his, albeit 2 months late.

It's pathetic that its year 5 and Obama's still blaming others.
punked
Yes, at least after they had been in office for a while. It's pathetic that its year 5 and Obama's still blaming others. Yah its not like Shady still blames the Bush recession on Barney Frank (one congressman) or anything. He has a proven track record by accepting after 7 years of Bush policy that the economy went into the greatest recession we have ever seen. Shady has already shown his acceptance that the President is responsible for what happens. WAIT ONE MINUTE!!! That never happened.
kimmy
The Tax Policy Center says the Ryan budget is a pile of crap. They say that the tax cuts would cost $5.7 trillion in revenue, and it's "hard to imagine" how the Ways And Means committee could make up for that amount. They also point out that the tax cuts are a minimal amount for most Americans, but a huge windfall for the wealthiest 1%. In other words, it's the same stuff Romney/Ryan lost the election on. But instead of talking about the tax cuts, he has spruced up his marketing message by talking about how bad the deficit will be for the poor and middle class. As I read through his PDF, the message was clearly the deficit the deficit the deficit the deficit the deficit the deficit the deficit. But if your message is the deficit the deficit the deficit the deficit the deficit the deficit the deficit, and your budget includes massive tax cuts for the wealthy and no plan to replace the lost revenue, your message just isn't honest. -k

Shady
Kinda like the same stuff the 47% won the election on. Being a rich guy in Californy, Bill Maher pushes back: Yep. If you're "rich" in places like California, you pay 40% of your income to the feds, and 15 percent of your income to the state. So the government takes 55% right off the top. That's not including things like property taxes, other municiple taxes, and sales taxes. Regardless, apparently some of the posters in this forum are unaware that the house of represenatatives is an EQUAL branch of government. So they have every political right to produce the budget that they feel is appropriate. I'm just glad one party is actually taking budget issues seriously. Ryan's so-called draconian budget increases federal spending by 3.5% each year instead of the projected 5%.

There is a reason even though Somalia has no taxes no Rich people move there. When you are done crying me a river you can pay your taxes for living in a country that has a high standard of living. It also has 750 000 households worth more then a million dollars, it is so good to rich people even Romney bought himself a house there. They must be doing something right because they seem to be doing a whole lot better then Somalia.
