His new budget embraces those cuts.....well because.....He is flip flopper I guess. Oh Ryan also uses that tax increase Republicans said was going to destroy America from the fiscal fight. Now that senate Democrats have finally decided to pass a budget (the first time in 4 years) there can finally be a budget reconciliation process. I think Ryan's budget is more than fair. While he talks about how awesome it'll be to have lower deficits and lower interest payments, he has no concrete suggestions on how to get on his "Path to Prosperity". His "Path to Prosperity" isn't a plan of action, it's just a green line on his graphs that shows lower deficits. And then he goes through many pages talking about challenges facing America and declares generic libertarian principles to be the answer to everything. Problem: tuition fees are rising out of control! Solution: Freedom! Liberty! Problem: slow economic growth! Solution: Deregulation! Empower the job creators! Problem: Medicare is unsustainable! Yah its not like Shady still blames the Bush recession on Barney Frank (one congressman) or anything. He has a proven track record by accepting after 7 years of Bush policy that the economy went into the greatest recession we have ever seen. They say that the tax cuts would cost $5.7 trillion in revenue, and it's "hard to imagine" how the Ways And Means committee could make up for that amount. They also point out that the tax cuts are a minimal amount for most Americans, but a huge windfall for the wealthiest 1%. In other words, it's the same stuff Romney/Ryan lost the election on. But instead of talking about the tax cuts, he has spruced up his marketing message by talking about how bad the deficit will be for the poor and middle class. As I read through his PDF, the message was clearly the deficit the deficit the deficit the deficit the deficit the deficit the deficit. If you're "rich" in places like California, you pay 40% of your income to the feds, and 15 percent of your income to the state. So the government takes 55% right off the top. That's not including things like property taxes, other municiple taxes, and sales taxes. Regardless, apparently some of the posters in this forum are unaware that the house of represenatatives is an EQUAL branch of government. So they have every political right to produce the budget that they feel is appropriate. I'm just glad one party is actually taking budget issues seriously.
