eyeball Posted March 13, 2013 Report Posted March 13, 2013 What? Britain wanted to trade British goods like cloth for Chinese goods like tea and silk. China refused and demanded that the only thing they would accept is silver. Britain did not have silver but found that the Chinese would trade silver for opium. Problem solved. If you've seen one narco-state you've seen them all. Quote I said now watch what you say they'll be calling you a radical, a liberal, oh fanatical criminal
TimG Posted March 13, 2013 Report Posted March 13, 2013 (edited) If you've seen one narco-state you've seen them all. Except there was no global ban on the trade of drugs at the time - they were just another trade good. What would think of Canadians selling dope to Americans if dope was legalized in Canada? Smart businessmen or drug pushers? Edited March 13, 2013 by TimG Quote
DogOnPorch Posted March 13, 2013 Report Posted March 13, 2013 So let me get this straight, the west has never pushed dope whilst pursuing it's aims? Oh goodness gracious, yes. Let's fly Air America! In the Royal 'let's'...of course. But, it paid for the Phoenix Program. I hear some dude named Oliver North might have had...errrr....some dealings, as well. eyeball Posted March 13, 2013 Report Posted March 13, 2013 Whatever, at least you clowns make it pretty obvious why the west is still dinking around the shitholes of the world. Quote I said now watch what you say they'll be calling you a radical, a liberal, oh fanatical criminal
DogOnPorch Posted March 13, 2013 Report Posted March 13, 2013 Whatever, at least you clowns make it pretty obvious why the west is still dinking around the shitholes of the world. Which countries are sh*tholes, again? Are the folks living in them sh*theads? Or do you have another name for them? Quote Nothing cracks a turtle like Leon Uris.
eyeball Posted March 13, 2013 Report Posted March 13, 2013 It's the name you guys often use, I'm just keeping it dumbed down for you. Quote I said now watch what you say they'll be calling you a radical, a liberal, oh fanatical criminal
DogOnPorch Posted March 13, 2013 Report Posted March 13, 2013 It's the name you guys often use, I'm just keeping it dumbed down for you. I admire your contempt for humanity. Quote Nothing cracks a turtle like Leon Uris.

eyeball Posted March 13, 2013 Report Posted March 13, 2013 I admire your contempt for humanity. No you don't, you reserve your admiration for people who condone, prescribe and cause us to bother with places like Afghanistan. DogOnPorch Posted March 13, 2013 Report Posted March 13, 2013 No you don't, you reserve your admiration for people who condone, prescribe and cause us to bother with places like Afghanistan. Really? I can see why you might think so with the tons of threads I start on the subject. What it does boil down to is that you do not know me or have any clue as to what actually motivates me. eyeball Posted March 13, 2013 Report Posted March 13, 2013 Off-hand I'd say the thrill of military porn. But you're right, for all I know your interest is more pragmatic - a retirement fund is based on stocks in companies that produce and use military hardware perhaps. I guess it's just a co-incidence that your interests, whatever they are, align with others who have a clearer ideological stake in diddling with other countries. eyeball Posted March 13, 2013 Report Posted March 13, 2013 The only assumption I've ever made about your interest is that it's a depraved one, like the others you roll with. Quote I said now watch what you say they'll be calling you a radical, a liberal, oh fanatical criminal
DogOnPorch Posted March 13, 2013 Report Posted March 13, 2013 The only assumption I've ever made about your interest is that it's a depraved one, like the others you roll with. I've never been embarrassed to be seen posting next to you before. But, if you claim you're depraved, perhaps I should re-think that. Quote Nothing cracks a turtle like Leon Uris.
eyeball Posted March 13, 2013 Report Posted March 13, 2013 Try again. I clearly said your interest is depraved not my assumption. Quote I said now watch what you say they'll be calling you a radical, a liberal, oh fanatical criminal
DogOnPorch Posted March 13, 2013 Report Posted March 13, 2013 Try again. I clearly said your interest is depraved not my assumption. Again...that you feel yourself an embarrassment to this web site really isn't my problem. Your depravity is yours. Quote Nothing cracks a turtle like Leon Uris.

Army Guy Posted March 14, 2013 Report Posted March 14, 2013 WOW, eyeball still twisted as ever, happy with the freedoms and pleasures you take for granted everday, and don't want to share them with the rest of the world.....Screw them let them eat cake, let them struggle just as we had to....it's my tax dollar and i don't want to share any of it...And while i do agree with you Afghanistan is a shit hole, but there are some of us that would like to change that.... Quote We, the willing, led by the unknowing, are doing the impossible for the ungrateful. We have now done so much for so long with so little, we are now capable of doing anything with nothing.

Good post. I alway thought if the allies could have stayed longer and with every year of more afghans getting educated the better it could have come. The attempt to bring them freedom failed. They kept the same law system as they had before. The attempt to change Afghanistan has been 12 years running. Longer than both WWI and WWII combined. But in a direct way Afghanistan is a problem the west created. Supporting the Muhajideen to fight off the Soviets, only to have that group splinter into the Taliban and Al-Queda. Karzai has little influence outside of Kabul as the warlords and remnants of the Taliban still roam and essentially control a good deal of Afghanistan. And without the current levels of foreign troops helping to prop up the Karzai regime .. sorry government, he would fall instantly and we are back to square 1. Not that much of a fall back to me as we have barely moved into square 2. Hopefully we are able to bring them freedom before we have to bring you home in a body bag. But the latter is more likely. I'd rather not have to waste any lives on a mission that was doomed to fail right from the start. Quote

Kind of like how those in the USA tell us we don't know anything because we don't live in the USA. But everything I have stated in that post is fact. Quote
