bush_cheney2004
Looks like Hugo Chavez lost his battle with cancer. Can't say I will miss him much, but he was great comic relief. CARACAS, Venezuela (AP) -- PresidentHugo Chavez, the fiery populist who declared a socialist revolution inVenezuela, crusaded against U.S. influence and championed a leftistrevival across Latin America, died Tuesday at age 58 after a nearlytwo-year bout with cancer. http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories/L/LT_VENEZUELA_OBIT_CHAVEZ?SITE=AP&SECTION=HOME&TEMPLATE=DEFAULT&CTIME=2013-03-05-16-58-

Pliny
Well, Venezuela lost their leader today. Sad for some, uplifting to others, perhaps as politicians do have their friends and enemies. So long, Hugo. What will be Venezuela's future? Is there someone in the wings that will carry the torch forward or will there be a shift? Pliny
Not my favourite politician but a fellow human being, so long Hugo. The US is already being blamed for giving him cancer. The Bush administration must have had something to do with it. Right B_C?

bush_cheney2004
Do Commies go to heaven or hell? Maybe.....Chavez was a Roman Catholic who embraced Jesus with both arms as he battled with cancer. The president has alternated between emotional fragility and optimism in public, mentioning God and Jesus nearly every time he shows up on TV. Chávez shed tears last month during a televised Mass with relatives in Venezuela, when he prayed aloud to Jesus to "give me life." In a later appearance in Cuba, Chávez held up the same crucifix that he said helped deliver him from one of his darkest moments, a 2002 coup that briefly deposed him. He returned to the presidency within two days. Edited March 5, 2013 by bush_cheney2004
jbg
He was a great man, a humble man, a man of his people. He is in the pantheon of truly commendable and decent leaders, along with Abe Lincoln, John MacDonald, Mother Theresa, Albert Schweitzer and Jonas Salk. He delivered Venezuela into the ranks of leading and important nations. He will long and sorely be missed.

So long, Hugo. What will be Venezuela's future? Is there someone in the wings that will carry the torch forward or will there be a shift? His shoes cannot be filled. He is alone in his magnificent greatness. A leader, therapist, and healer all in one. I will miss him as will the world.

That would have looked bad.
jbg
The world lost a great man in Hugo Chavez today. Dead long before his time, at age 58, the death is tragic enough. The death will have a major impact of depriving Canada and the U.S. of moral leadership. He should be memorialized with Montcalm, Wolfe, MacDonald and King as boosters of the Canadian spirit. Canadians will be profoundly shocked and depressed.

jbg
Well, I give him credit for not seeking better medical care in a wicked capitalist country. That would have looked bad. But Paul Martin sought and obtained such care. In the United States no less. Heaven forefend, an anti-American Canadian leader jumping the cue in the U.S.

bush_cheney2004
The new interim leader is blaming the Capitalist Pig-Dog United States for giving him cancer several years ago……….. Yes....it's true. The US has secret cancer weapons that can target pulsed mircowaves at individuals to cause cancer and other fatal diseases. This is effective when there is no hurry, otherwise the U.S. uses drones instead.
