Because it's a point of international law that nations are allowed to defend themselves when attacked.

So you agree with following international law and will condemn those who will not?

Ya so if kids threaten you with stones, drive directly toward them fast enough to flip them onto the windshield when you hit them. Mhmm...

It looked to me like he tried to drive around them. But whatever. Anyone starts throwing stones at me in my car I'll run over their heads if need be, and without a shred of remorse.

...You should be demonized for wanting to justify the killing of Palestinians by trying to lay the blame on someone other than those who pull the triggers.

No, you should be praised for logically supporting the lawful actions by a sovereign state to eradicate terrorists.

War is terrible with loses on both sides. Hamas cannot pick a fight and use human shields then cry foul when Arabs die. They created this situation and must accept the consequences of their actions.

Israel doesn't use human shields whereas Hamas launches attacks from residential areas maximizing civilian casualties and trying to maximize pity. It's quite appalling that people are taking the side of a terrorist org. The hatred for Israel and Jews is so high in Canada and around the world it would seem. War is terrible, honestly it is. Both sides suffer loses but only one side is using human shields and only one side is targeting civilians and that side is Hamas. Anyone siding with Hamas is siding with terrorism.

Especially "stones" big enough to break through your windshield - and you have a child in the car. I imagine the swarm of photographers didn't help any, as the driver had to avoid hitting them, too. I have to wonder at the mindset of someone who would run directly into the path of a moving car - must be of the "martyr" mindset.

What makes the whole situation ever worse, though, is the false way it was presented in the media. How anyone can defend that is beyond me.

It's not like we're basing our judgement of the situation on one or two photos.

It sure looks as if you're trying to, with the "visual effects" you posted and the mention of your newborn baby. It makes one wonder about the genuineness of your presentation. In other words, it comes across more as propaganda than a discussion, just like the fake/recycled photos.

We're basing it on local and international reporters. Reports and analysis from human rights organizations.

Right. Because they're above reproach, right? In case you truly believe that, and somehow missed it, I've posted evidence that would refute that mindset.

Those, plus photos, videos, personal accounts and other sources all help us shape our views of the event.

They are most definitely helping me shape my views of the event.

I am wondering how someone posting a fake photo changes what the Gazans experienced.

If they have to resort to photos of Syrians to show what Gazans have experienced - well, you figure it out.

You should be demonized for wanting to justify the killing of Palestinians by trying to lay the blame on someone other than those who pull the triggers.

Perhaps you are truly, unbelievably unaware of it, but even in a court of law, people other than those who "pull the trigger" are held accountable. You could start educating yourself by learning about criminal endangerment - knowingly engaging in conduct that creates a substantial risk of death or serious bodily injury to another.

When it gets to "My baby's deader than your baby", it's time to call a truce, call the adults to the table to move beyond childish 'tit for tat' ...

Unfortunately there don't seem to be any real adults among the powers that be on either side.

The way forward will come from the Israeli and Palestinian people, not the military, not the governments, and certainly not from armchair 'analysts' like us thousands of miles and cultures away.

How can two peoples of ancient enmity live peacefully side by side and intermingled?

Only by choice.

You do realize that it's the "powers that be" that negotiated the truce, right?

I don't dislike you, nor like you, you just exist as far as I am concerned, nothing to get upset about.

That's great. BBC doesn't insist reporters take up personal residence at their news stories. That he was willing to be a pawn for Hamas's propaganda was also noted. As well, since Hamas is so keen on shooting heavy weapons from amongst civilians, how do YOU know his poor baby wasn't killed by one of Hamas's weapons dumps exploding?

I am sure you meant 'as' and not 'at'. Proper grammar is key if you want to help clarify your arguments.

So a man living in Gaza is contracted/hired by the BBC to report from within Gaza. Since he lives there, his children live there. Who would have thought!

Seems like you are giving him crap just for living in Gaza where not only his son, but his sister in law was killed as well. According to some articles, his residence was not in any of the areas where the rockets were being fired from. And from the pictures there is a very large hole in the roof. Unless the Qassam rockets are that powerful, it would be safe to say both sides are playing this incident.

I really wanted to see a nice ground war where Israel flattens Gaza. Maybe a nice full out all cards in final battle to the death will resolve this conflict that has been going on longer than I have been alive.

Let's get it ON!!!!! WOOO!!!! I want war porn, and I want it now!

Since you seem fond of repeating the "longer than I have been alive" mantra, here's a tip - it's not about you, so what does that have to do with anything? Furthermore, the conflict has been going on longer than most of us here on the board have been alive. So what's your point? But for the record, you're hardly in the position to be claiming anyone else's comments are "asinine" in light of what you posted here about what you "really want to see." Disgusting.

Let's get it ON!!!!! WOOO!!!! I want war porn, and I want it now!

I have to wonder in what mind a comment like this is any less disgusting than anything Mr. Canada has had to say.

Also it was the same people who went into it.
