you are an intellectual lightweight. you pretend to know lots but i see through your thin smokescreen. the USA has the most violent gun crimes in the western world. that is a FACT but i guess you don't like facts.

Really? Just because you say something does not make it a fact and no amount of feet stomping or crying will fix that. It was proven to you that Europe is just if not more so violent than the US but hey a troll is a troll and you won't be a good troll if you had any knowledge of common sence.

These sources you quote are dubious. I don't buy them. A few isolated incidents in Europe doesn't make it violent compared to the gun loving USA.

So wait, you don't accept facts because they don't conform to your ridiculous ideas? Gee so much for being open minded.

I posted some facts, American Women posted a hell of a lot of facts and figures to prove you wrong, but I guess trolls are not bothered by facts or reality for that matter.

Great! Now provide a source, and prove that the US is more violent than Europe. Gun control has not helped Europe one little bit, nor has it helped Australia or well any other country for that matter. When you can prove that there is a massive difference in violence between Europe and the US come and talk to us.

There is a massive difference in population between the US and European countries genius... If you want to compare make it out of 100,000 or some other reliable method.

You would still be wrong. Germany's rate is still much lower than gun happy usa.

In Canada, there were 542 homicides in 2000 resulting in a national rate of 1.8 homicides per

100,000 population. By comparison, there were 15,517 homicides in the U.S., resulting in a rate

(5.5) three times higher than Canada’s.

Again prove it.

Explain Brazil.....26 murders per 100K:

http://www.economist.com/node/18805840

Brazil's murder rate barely budged during the past decade, at around 26 per 100,000. But the geography of murder changed, notes Julio Jacobo Waiselfisz of the Instituto Sangari, a think-tank in São Paulo. In 1998 São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro were more violent than average; Alagoas was not. Better policing and economic growth have seen the murder rate fall by nearly two-thirds in São Paulo and two-fifths in Rio over the decade. Criminals squeezed out of long-held strongholds followed the money to areas of new industrial development and tourist destinations. Illegal logging and land grabs, together with new cross-border routes for guns and drugs, stoked crime in the Amazon. And Alagoas, its state government debt-ridden and police force weak, corrupt and often on strike, was at times close to lawless.

Yet Brazil has gun control laws.......And what about Mexico:

http://www.oecdbetterlifeindex.org/topics/safety/

The homicide rate (the number of murders per 100,000 inhabitants) is a more reliable measure of a country’s safety level because, unlike other crimes, murders are usually always reported to the police. According to the latest OECD data, Mexico’s homicide rate has increased from 7 in 2002 to 19, much higher than the OECD average of 2.1 and the highest in the OECD. In Mexico, men are far more likely to be murder victims than women, as the homicide rate for men is 34.7 compared with 3.8 for women.

And they have stricter gun laws then Canada.

Mexico has dangerous drug cartels. I can't believe you did not know that. Brazil is not as rich as the usa. poor examples on your part.

So that's a no?

The Mexicans, like I said, have tougher gun laws then both Canada and the United States, a murder rate greater than our two countries combined and you point to "drug cartels"?

Are you suggesting "drug cartels" don't follow the laws of the land?

So gun control laws are only effective if the people are “rich like Americans”? Why is that?

Are you suggesting poor people don’t follow the law? Or that gun owners, by extension, don’t follow the law because they’re poor?

It is a shocker, the people doing the killing will not willingly give up their arms, but somehow the people not doing the killings giving up their arms will bring forth world Peace.

I was thinking that a pissing contest about violence rates between countries is a waste of time, and a sidetrack to the thread.

I also see that this is approximately 100% poster socialist's fault.

He is trolling. I sincerely doubt he even believes half of what he's posting.

“There is a limit to how much we can constantly say no to the political masters in Washington. All we had was Afghanistan to wave. On every other file we were offside. Eventually we came onside on Haiti, so we got another arrow in our quiver."

Most likely a character account of a previous member of the forums. I guess the person has nothing else to do with his/her time.

I'm reminded of a "Muslim jihadist" who was here for a short while, talking about how his "three strong sons" would join him in jihad, and of 72 virgins in paradise, and how "Allah will see all you sons of pigs destroyed!"

:)

Now that was really obviously bullshit.

Well at least this one made himself/herself blatantly obvious. He must be in training to be a politician. One has to ignore oxymoron type statements in order to believe that the two contradicting parts are the same. I guess that is related to the other thread in which critical thinking is not taught in public schools.
