I just seen the new one and is it ever light. I think there might be problems with putting these into vending machines.

Toronto, like a roach motel in the middle of a pretty living room.

There is. All the parking garages in town now have signs warning people against putting the new toonies (and loonies) into the machines because they will eat the coins but not register it as paid.

Instead of causing cost to places that have these and having to change the machines, why don't they invent the machine that takes Debit Cards or Credit cards? I can see people getting tramped in a parking lot thinking they have the money only to find it does work. I know larger cities do have have atm machines to pay for parking but small areas don't, make this standard.

The machines do take debit and credit. They also take cash.

Skip that. lets go the Helsinki method.

Pay via the barcode reader on your phone. Everything from bus rides, to movies, to what ever the hell ya want. Scan, go and voila!

Yeah... kinda funny that in 2012 we would pay for stuff by dropping bits of metal down a little hole :P

I question things because I am human. And call no one my father who's no closer than a stranger

I live in one of the last places on earth without cell service. Of course, I have a phone, but paying for something with it would probably be pretty difficult because of that. It's not hard to carry a little card.

Cell phones do not work at my place either and satellite phones do not work at my hunt camp.

According to Canadian law, vendors are obligated to accept cash.(my knowledge of the exact details are probably a little hazy)

I believe that it is because of Canadian law that the loonie and two bit have gold color(something about the limitation what a vendor may accept of the silver/copper colored coins)

Personally I agree with you, however do you really want to use your credit card at a pop machine or a bag of chips?

There are a lot of dead spots in Manitoba, even inside of Winnipeg. There's no service at or near my work, no service at or near my house, no service at or near the hospital where my 88 yr old FIL is (the place I most frequently have to pay for parking and use vending machines), no service inside most arenas, pools, or community centres. I love all the fun things my smartphone can do, but if I had to rely on it for, well, anything. I'd be in trouble.

Toonie? I can live with a toonie.

Get rid of the penny. Please.

What about condom machines? Will there be a rash of teen pregnancies resulting? :o
