August1991
In the US and Canada, we talk of a virulent divide. In France too. In the UK, there is minority confusion. In Japan, there is no longer cohesion. Yet in China, Brazil, India and Russia - it appears that there is peace. Everyone gets along. ----- Is it true that western politics have become more radical? More divided? We say in Canada that Bush Jnr and American "divide politics" have infected our system. bush_cheney2004
...We say in Canada that Bush Jnr and American "divide politics" have infected our system. Some Canadians say that about everything and anything just to gain political advantage. Even "American style" ketchup is up for debate. Quote Economics trumps Virtue. TheNewTeddy
Ireland has no "viable left/right divide" either. Quote Feel free to contact me outside the forums. Add "TheNewTeddy" to Twitter, Facebook, or Hotmail to reach me!
BubberMiley
It actually just exists in your mind, August. If you were smart enough to look at it objectively, you would see that it is all just an artificial construct. j44
Yet in China, Brazil, India and Russia - it appears that there is peace. Everyone gets along. Isn't China divided over it's foreign policy? Between the Communist Party and the PLA? Didn't Russia just have mass protests against Putin's re-election? Isn't India's electorate fed up with the ruling INC and the widespread corruption there? WLDB
I never really liked the "left/right" labels. I am generally on the "left" but being called a "leftist" is inaccurate as my views vary on issue to issue. There are more than two options to chose from when it comes to political opinions. These things are artificial constructs perpetuated by the media and politicians to demonize their opponents. Its easier that way. August1991
Didn't Russia just have mass protests against Putin's re-election?And Putin got elected.I never really liked the "left/right" labels.Call it Team A and Team B.We can choose, and we alternate. ---- Make no mistake: followers of Layton (Team A) are not like followers of Harper (Team B ). What's the key difference? Layton and Harper did not collude. Edited April 9, 2012 by August1991
TheNewTeddy
What about Northern Ireland, or Israel, where the left-right divide takes a backseat to other issues? Or Quebec for that matter if you want to talk close to home. Quote Feel free to contact me outside the forums. Add "TheNewTeddy" to Twitter, Facebook, or Hotmail to reach me! GostHacked
The camps of left and right are simply buckets we label and are put into. It is used to pit the left against the right. Here is how it works, we have the the people divided up by left and right, now the people who put us into those camps have a huge interest in making sure we stay in those buckets. They pit us against each other saying that the left or the right is bad (and other generalized blanket statements) Only a fool still thinks there is a left and a right. They are both part of the same beast that benefits by controlling both sides. Ever wonder why no matter who is in charge policy remains and continues without issue? Ever wonder why the new boss can't reverse much of the predecessors implementations? GostHacked
This BRICS is going to make some huge waves across the world. You have two large economies (Russia and China) coming together to form some economic union to push back on the US dollar. Things like this should despell the notion that the US dollar is doing OK.
