MACKER Posted March 11, 2012 Author Report Posted March 11, 2012 (edited) Nowhere in that article did he say that. Read this first line. Preston Manning cautioned his fellow Tories on Saturday that the conservative movement in Canada must practice as well as preach ethical policies, be open to new ideas, and better train political candidates. It isn't about the party, it is about the movement now. 2. They arn't practising or putting forth ethical policies. 3. Their ideas suck. 4. They suck. Edited March 11, 2012 by MACKER Quote

MACKER Posted March 11, 2012 Author Report Posted March 11, 2012 (edited) Ok So J44 what do you reckon Manning was getting at? What does this mean to you? Manning also noted new poll results released Friday by his centre demonstrate Canadians' perception of politicians "is bordering on contempt" — which poses problems for all parties, particularly the government.Read more: http://www.edmontonjournal.com/news/Preston+Manning+Robocalls+deplorable/6280337/story.html#ixzz1omevaG2l Edited March 11, 2012 by MACKER Quote
TheNewTeddy Posted March 11, 2012 Report Posted March 11, 2012 There are 308 ridings. Almost all of them had candidates from the 4 federal parties. UofGPolitico Posted March 11, 2012 Report Posted March 11, 2012 Topic title is misleading. Original poster is reading into Preston Manning's comments to fit his or her agenda. Should be against the rules, my guess is that it is. Quote

Thats 1232 "Politicians" of which only 166 are part of the "Conservative Government" Surely the vast majority of those 1232 had a snowball's chance in hell to be elected? I mean, there must be safe seats for different parties therefore from the other parties only juniors are sent to compete in those ridings. Or does the canadian election-law stipulate that you must be a resident in the riding you are a candidate in? Quote
margrace Posted March 11, 2012 Report Posted March 11, 2012 Yes for goodness sake do not critize the Harper government in any way or the rath of god will descend on you. Quote
Tilter Posted March 11, 2012 Report Posted March 11, 2012 Manning said the robocall vote-suppression scandal being investigated by Elections Canada, as well as new polling numbers he released Friday - showing only one per cent of Canadians have a very favourable opinion of politicians - reinforce the need to improve the practices employed by all parties, including the Conservatives. He applauded the Harper Conservatives for having what he said is an independent accountability officer in the Tory election war room to guard against illegal or unethical activity. However, Manning said he wants all parties to avoid using vote-suppression tactics and robocall technology for nefarious reasons. So he says that the idea of Robocall is unethical--- For which ALL parties are being investigated--- see headlines CTV news--- Liberals behind Robocalls & Under investigation. Some people can make a silk purse look like it was made from a sows ear--- your Preston Manning says that the Harper Government is badis making a sow's ear look like sow shit.or rather bullshit-- the whole supposition behind your post title.
