olpfan1 Posted March 5, 2012 Report Posted March 5, 2012 You are right, better wait until June. April is warm enough Quote
PIK Posted March 5, 2012 Report Posted March 5, 2012 There is a reason why the majority of canadians prefer to stay inside during the winter you think we enjoy snow & cold? bullllllllcrap And where do you live, where I am ,we are out during the winter having winter fun. Not hiding for 6 months.LOL Quote Toronto, like a roach motel in the middle of a pretty living room.

UofGPolitico Posted March 5, 2012 Report Posted March 5, 2012 I'm from Thunder Bay Being from Thunder Bay you of all people should be adapted to the cold. Do you not partake in winter activities? Or do you stay inside huddled by the stove for 6 months? Quote
Shakeyhands Posted March 5, 2012 Report Posted March 5, 2012 I could care less about protests. Lets have an independent inquiry and I'll voice my displeasure at the polls if warranted. I imagine my views are what the majority would do. There really is no other option now is there? Quote "They muddy the water, to make it seem deep." - Friedrich Nietzsche
Tilter Posted March 6, 2012 Report Posted March 6, 2012 it also didnt have the cpc dominating the other parties Gee--- whooda thot--- politics enters the picture & the leading party is--- wait for it --- it'll come--- ahead of the others. Bonam Posted March 8, 2012 Report Posted March 8, 2012 You can dress as warm as you can, wear the right things but still get frostbite if you are exposed long enough BS. People can be outside all day long in -50 in the right clothing, not to mention -24. Last june when I was climbing denali, we had a day where it was about -30, and we were exposed at freaking 18000 ft with 20 mph winds. Did anyone get frostbite? Nope. In fact we were having a great time. I've talked to people who've climbed everest, the vinson massif in antarctica, etc, and generally had to spend days outside in temps as low as -65, spending nights in snow caves. With modern gear, the general consensus is you only get frostbite if you do something stupid, like losing a glove. Anyway, the dangers of chilly weather in canadian cities, with warm buildings all around, is far overstated, especially when compared to what people risk to go out and protest when they're freedoms really are threatened. capricorn Posted March 11, 2012 Author Report Posted March 11, 2012 A small group of protesters got a head start in Lethbridge, Alta. on Saturday, rallying in front of Conservative MP Jim Hillyer's constituency office with signs and a mock casket carrying the "corpse of democracy."The protesters said they weren't targeting a specific political party, but want to send a strong message to the government about robocalls. http://www.ctv.ca/CTVNews/Canada/20120310/robocall-rallies-planned-120310/ A protest is planned for tomorrow in Toronto. The weather forecast is a balmy 14 degrees so maybe the turnout will be better than what we've seen so far. Quote "We always want the best man to win an election. Unfortunately, he never runs." Newfoundlander Posted March 11, 2012 Report Posted March 11, 2012 So what are people going to be protesting? Quote
margrace Posted March 11, 2012 Report Posted March 11, 2012 it also didnt have the cpc dominating the other parties People are just beginning to talk about this, in our area one person wrote to her rep and expressed her view that bringing the Pandas to Canada was too expensive. She got an email right away in Mandarine, she asked her rep what that was all about and he replied that he didn't know what she was talking about. People have been banned on Zoomers for critizing Harper. We don't need the new bill to know that this government is already reading our emails. I hope that our young people can open their eyes and see what is going on. Quote
capricorn Posted March 11, 2012 Author Report Posted March 11, 2012 These planned robocall protests are something the NDP and Green party supporters fall back on all the time whenever their "protest du jour" starts to fizzle out. It is their last attempt to take their "protest du jour" off life support. It was kind of stupid to plan a robocall protest in Toronto the same day as the annual St. Patrick's Day parade. On such a beautiful day, where do you suppose gawkers would rather congregate? I thought once the NDP moved to Official Opposition their supporters would grow politically and grow out of the typical union rally process of walking around with placards. The CBC reported about 50 demonstrators rallied in St. John's, NFLD today. The most prominent hand made sign had the word "OCCUPY" in big letters. The organizer deplored the fact that no elected official joined in. Quote "We always want the best man to win an election. Unfortunately, he never runs." Will Rogers

olpfan1 Posted March 11, 2012 Report Posted March 11, 2012 Is this your new position on the matter? I seem to recall in some of your posts you said based on past behaviour, the Conservatives are likely responsible for voter suppression. I don't think there is any doubt that most parties have done some pretty unethical things in the past few elections that we are now just talking about.. as for CPC being likely responsible for voter suppression I still agree with that, CPC is the party currently being investigated, not the liberals or ndp What is going on in Guelph is what this is all about remember Quote
capricorn Posted March 11, 2012 Author Report Posted March 11, 2012 CPC is the party currently being investigated, not the liberals or ndp What we know is that EC is investigating in Guelph. I have not seen anything anywhere that says it is the Conservative Party that they are investigating. In fact, EC consistently says it does not comment on ongoing investigations. If you have evidence to the contrary, please share. Quote "We always want the best man to win an election. Unfortunately, he never runs." Will Rogers
