TheNewTeddy Posted February 11, 2012 Report Posted February 11, 2012 Wasn't sure where else to put this, as there is no "weather forum" - which BTW is a crime against Canadians, as that's like, the #1 thing we talk about, eh? - but am I the only one a bit pumped that Winter is finally here in Southern Ontario? I'm planning to go out at some point while it's still 20 below with the wind chill just to experience winter. Quote Feel free to contact me outside the forums. BubberMiley Posted February 11, 2012 Report Posted February 11, 2012 It's been the freakiest Winnipeg non-winter I've ever seen. While it's a healthy -18 right now with a windchill feels-like of -29, that's very much the exception and not the usual rule. By tomorrow we'll be back in the single digits for the rest of the week. Argus Posted February 11, 2012 Report Posted February 11, 2012 Winter is fun until a week after Xmas, then it's time for summer again. Winter is never fun. It's okay to look at from the warm side of a window on Christmas Eve. It's nice to have around while you drive to the mall shopping for Christmas presents. It serves no other purpose but to get in my way. And I HATE cold weather. For me, that means anything under five or six degrees. In my next house, I'm going to have a solarium with huge windows, an indoor pond and waterfall, and lots of plants. Then I can sit there and enjoy the sun and heat in February. Maybe I'll even enjoy winter... though not if I have to go out in it. capricorn Posted February 12, 2012 Report Posted February 12, 2012 Winter is never fun. I agree. Winter is fun when you're on a jet for a 10 or 14 day escape south. Other than that, it stinks. Quote "We always want the best man to win an election. Unfortunately, he never runs." Will Rogers
Bonam Posted February 12, 2012 Report Posted February 12, 2012 You guys are such downers. Try out a fun winter activity like skiing and you'll change your tune. Quote

Guest American Woman Posted February 12, 2012 Report Posted February 12, 2012 I usually try to fly for a 10 to 14 day escape to somewhere cold in the summer instead My parents used to winter in Hawaii where they were able to rent the same condo every year because the owners spent the winter in Colorado skiing. I admit that the snow and cold gets to be too much sometimes, but so does the heat and humidity of summer. I would never want to live where there aren't four seasons - each is beautiful in its own way and they all have something to offer. At any rate, we didn't have a winter this year in that we basically have had no snow and no cold snaps. Yet. Quote
Moonlight Graham Posted February 12, 2012 Report Posted February 12, 2012 (edited) You guys are such downers. Try out a fun winter activity like skiing and you'll change your tune. But you can't do that 16 hours a day, 7 days a week. There are fun activities in winter for sure, but after a month or 2 the novelty of change wears off and standing out in the freezing cold waiting for a bus or sitting in a freezing car when I first get in waiting for it to warm up really busts by balls! Winter seemed a lot more fun as a kid. When it snowed it was "hurray!!! Fun!", but now snow means "dang now I gotta go shovel some snow..." TheNewTeddy Posted February 12, 2012 Author Report Posted February 12, 2012 In the future when we have star-trek-style weather control, we should have one day of winter for each of the 4 "winter months". sharkman Posted February 16, 2012 Report Posted February 16, 2012 Winter has been about normal in my section of BC, I just hope we don't get another Alaskan cold front coming down the province as happened in January. I like winter but have become a wuss living in the Lower Mainland for all of my adult life. I might get a work trip to Regina coming up to shock my system though! Quote
