Topaz Posted January 9, 2012 Report Posted January 9, 2012 I would think the world would love this match happen. I think Putin in more fit than Harper and Harper would have to go into weight training and take off about 50lbs, just to move! Don't know what he's like on skates, anyone know? So, I guess if Harper isn't sen in the House that much in the future, he's probably in the gym or on the ice. http://www.thestar.com/news/canada/article/1112412--harper-putin-to-star-in-1972-summit-series-rematch Quote
The_Squid Posted January 9, 2012 Report Posted January 9, 2012 What if Putin lays out our PM with a cheap shot? Will Obama come to our rescue and drop the gloves??? Quote
waldo Posted January 9, 2012 Report Posted January 9, 2012 ... and Harper would have to go into weight training and take off about 50lbs, just to move! Don't know what he's like on skates, anyone know? I doubt Harper's weight problem is an issue... or his skating prowess - he quite regularly exhibits skating skills even when on thin ice! Quote
guyser Posted January 9, 2012 Report Posted January 9, 2012 What if Putin lays out our PM with a cheap shot? Will Obama come to our rescue and drop the gloves??? No , but Brendan Shanahan will. Putin will be called on the carpet in New York and suspended for one game. For the record, Putin would leave Harper panting by 0.22 of the first period. Quote
Shady Posted January 9, 2012 Report Posted January 9, 2012 I don't know who would win. But the lefties of the forum would certainly be cheering for the former KGB strong man Vladimir Putin. Quote

guyser Posted January 9, 2012 Report Posted January 9, 2012 Coward... that's as bad as the Canucks starting their backup versus Boston this past weekend. Coward ? Um...worked out for them didnt it? Schneider is from the Boston area and no one had seen him play live. The is a long tradition that the kid 'from the area' gets to play since so many family memebrs and freinds are in the stands. It aint cowardly. Quote
sharkman Posted January 9, 2012 Report Posted January 9, 2012 Yeah, it was one of the best games of the year so far. Too bad it was at such a lousy time. I couldn't believe they got four past Thomas. Quote
eyeball Posted January 10, 2012 Report Posted January 10, 2012 I don't know who would win. But the lefties of the forum would certainly be cheering for the former KGB strong man Vladimir Putin. You've got to be kidding. Putin is about as conservative and right wing as it gets in the only place it really matters these days. I'd call him a securitarian if such a word existed. It certainly should. He's no different than western right-wing politicians who are obsessed with nationalism and the security of the state and doing everything they can to increase the level, size and scope of both. I can't stand watching hockey myself. Like any other bunch of morons running back and forth trying to stick something in a hole or an end zone and like statists too, there's only so many variations on the theme before they all get tired. Just for one hard run in to the boards... or one of those bone shaking open ice hits...then my support is right back to Harper. kimmy Posted January 10, 2012 Report Posted January 10, 2012 What if Putin lays out our PM with a cheap shot? Will Obama come to our rescue and drop the gloves??? I think Putin is about a foot shorter than Harper, and probably 80 pounds lighter. My money is on Stephen if they get into it. Coward... that's as bad as the Canucks starting their backup versus Boston this past weekend. Coward? That would be Brad Marchand throwing a check at Sami Salo's knees. I am not old enough to remember a player named Kenny "The Rat" Lindsman, but someone told me that Marchand reminds him of "The Rat". Marchand certainly has the nose to live up to that nickname, and before too long, somebody is going to break Marchand's rat nose and it'll be well-deserved when it happens. -k Quote (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻ Friendly forum facilitator! ┬──┬◡ノ(° -°ノ)

The_Squid Posted January 10, 2012 Report Posted January 10, 2012 Schneider is from the Boston area and no one had seen him play live. The is a long tradition that the kid 'from the area' gets to play since so many family memebrs and freinds are in the stands. Any coach that plays a goalie because he is from the area should be fired. The coach is supposed to give the team the best chance of winning, not make his backup goalie happy. But I don't believe that this was the reason. He did it because Luongo got lit up in Boston badly and might be a bit fragile. If you can't play your best goalie in the most anticipated game of the year against your Stanley Cup rival, then something isn't right. I think Luongo might be over-rated as a goalie... It worked. I'm glad Schneider played well and they won! And what an entertaining game. Finesse versus thuggery. But boy did the finesse get a black-eye!! One concussion and one broken collar bone. Canucks need some toughness.... Coward? That would be Brad Marchand throwing a check at Sami Salo's knees. Yes, he is a chicken-$&it player. He got 5 games. He'll get his some day. I do wish the Nucks would have responded in a harsher manner to that play. Marchand should never have left the ice with all his teeth intact after that hit. Quote
Guest Manny Posted January 10, 2012 Report Posted January 10, 2012 Many do not know that Putin has a black-belt in Judo. And while judo may not work well on ice skates, you can bet it means he is in pretty good shape, and physically strong. Harper on the other hand probably holds a black-belt in turkey and gravy... eyeball Posted January 11, 2012 Report Posted January 11, 2012 You are seriously deluded if you equate how Putin operates with any Western leaders. You're seriously naive if you think western leaders are much more honest or less preoccupied with getting, holding and expanding their power. And yes like Putin our conservative one's appear way more likely to give the state everything it needs to feel safe, secure and even menacing. No, he holds his black belt in economics, something far more useful to a national leader. Of course, Putin probably does some of his own rough stuff... Quote

I do wish the Nucks would have responded in a harsher manner to that play. Marchand should never have left the ice with all his teeth intact after that hit. The Canucks are built for skill/scoring, not fighting. That one penalty by Marchand cost the Bruins the game. The Canucks scored twice, and still had 2 1/2 minutes of power play time left. The refs decided to take them off the power play and made a phantom call. Now if the Canucks had of started a brawl over that, there would have been no power play goals, and the Bruins might have won the game. Quote
Guest Manny Posted January 11, 2012 Report Posted January 11, 2012 No, he holds his black belt in economics, something far more useful to a national leader. Yeah but how does that help in the hockey rink? Maybe he could put his little round glasses on, for self defence. Quote

He easily could have said he is starting the better goalie since Shcneiders numbers are better. .927 vs .917 , 2.30gaa vs 2.37 Long story short , the kid plays because he is from there.Add in the fact that Luongo is short on confidence playing Boston and there you have it. He should add, playoff games, road games, night games, home games to his "messes up my routine shtick" Not sure he will ever get back to where he was.
