Argus Posted November 8, 2012 Report Posted November 8, 2012 So Ford called to find out where the bus was. Big deal! Chretien called the head of a government development bank to make sure his buddy, who had a criminal record, was loaned hundreds of thousands of dollars. Then, when his buddy never made any payments, and the bank moved to take action, Chretien had the head of the bank fired. When the guy complained, Chretien tried to have him put in prison. And the reason I bring this up is that all of you Ford haters would have voted for him if he had run last time around. So quit whining. I'm saying that your faux outrage over this guy taking the day off to coach football is really funny. Boges Posted November 9, 2012 Report Posted November 9, 2012 I'm saying that your faux outrage over this guy taking the day off to coach football is really funny. Especially when his attendance is better than former Mayor David Miller. Quote
Boges Posted November 9, 2012 Report Posted November 9, 2012 I saw the cover of the Metro this morning and it had Ford on the cover with a trophy over his head like he won the Grey Cup so the football thing is winding down. Quote
Black Dog Posted November 9, 2012 Author Report Posted November 9, 2012 Especially when his attendance is better than former Mayor David Miller. Might want to wait until he's fully through before you start patting him on teh back. The immediate takeaway: Ford’s attendance record for votes was really good for most of his first year in office. But the trend-line since then doesn’t look great. Somewhere in the midst of losing control of his first real budget and the transit votes that cost him his subways, the mayor started missing a heck of a lot of votes. Ford missed an average of seven per cent of votes per meeting in 2011. In 2012, so far, he’s missed an average of 22 per cent per meeting. If he really wants an attendance record to be proud of, Ford’s heading in the wrong direction. -link Quote

PIK Posted November 13, 2012 Report Posted November 13, 2012 ya... I read an article the other day by a MD saying it's true healthcare costs are going up( they are, as everything does) but increases are not keeping up with population growth... Of course they will go up, especially when the MD 's make you make a appointment just to get a subscription filled, or have simple question answered with a phone call. Quote Toronto, like a roach motel in the middle of a pretty living room.

I broke my finger last week. Decided to go to the doctor because it was bruised purple. I had to flash my Health card 6 times in the span of 4 days to get any resolution. - See the doctor to get a prescription and an X-Ray ordered. - Get an X-ray at the hospital. - Go back to the doctor to review the X-Ray and discover my finger was broken. - Go back to the doctor yet again once I found a surgeon to tell me how bad the break was. - Go back to the Hospital to pick up a copy of the X-Rays to bring to the surgeon. - Finally to see the surgeon to tell me all I needed to do was keep my fingers taped for a few weeks. I wonder how much that cost the government? BTW Ontario is starting to allow pharmacist to give Flu Shots and renew prescriptions but I'm sure the pharmacist will be allowed to bill OHIP, or whatever the other plans are called, to do those things. cybercoma Posted November 13, 2012 Report Posted November 13, 2012 In the US it would have cost you about $1000. Quote

guyser Posted November 21, 2012 Report Posted November 21, 2012 Our esteemed Mayor just cant help himself, now he has PO'd the Sun newspapers by blaming them for the mess he is in with the lawsuit. He doesnt seem able to understand what you say, in an editorial meeting no less, can come back and bite you. Our mayor each and every day proves he isnt very bright, does not understand much and is a petulant little Mayor. He best love his first and last term. Quote
Boges Posted November 21, 2012 Report Posted November 21, 2012 (edited) Well the Sun led the charge accusing Council of giving this Foudulis man a sweetheart deal. It's interesting that the Sun and Sue-Anne Levy didn't get sued here. Interestingly, if I remember correctly, the deal this guy got was one of the reason's Sandra Bussin wasn't re-elected in 2010. http://fullcomment.nationalpost.com/2012/11/14/christie-blatchford-how-a-rich-restaurant-deal-raised-a-thrifty-politicians-eyebrow/ The deal was pretty shady. Black Dog Posted January 11, 2013 Author Report Posted January 11, 2013 Ford feeds gravy train, asks for spending increases. One year removed from a bruising budget loss on the floor of council, with his political future still uncertain, Mayor Rob Ford endorsed a string of spending increases that will see more firefighters and paramedics hired. Some of the changes to the Toronto Fire Services budget appear to have been triggered by a new report that could drive up some insurance rates. Others are the fruits of ongoing talks between councillors, in particular a centrist group that represent six to nine crucial votes for the administration. The $9.4-billion operating budget tweaked by the executive committee adds about $6.8-million in spending and is made possible by drawing on a housing reserve fund Quote
guyser Posted January 11, 2013 Report Posted January 11, 2013 On a sort of related note ,talk radio is full of laughs these days over the Chris Spence plagiarism debacle. They are all calling for his head (he's resigned) as this is a flagrant abuse and morally wrong to the students/parents expectations of a head of an education system. Funny....they dont apply that same standard to our Mayor who abused his office with staffing working on non city stuff, using the power of the office for his own use etc etc. And yet, Spence never profitted from any of this. In fact he didnt get paid. Oh the horrors. Quote
Boges Posted January 11, 2013 Report Posted January 11, 2013 Well Ford was elected. Spencer was hired/appointed. Quote

Boges Posted January 11, 2013 Report Posted January 11, 2013 Ford can't be fired like Spencer can. His contract is for four years and the public decides if he gets hired or not. Quote

Seriously? So FOrd can break laws should he choose and he can say....my contract is for four years and the public will decide? By the way, Spence shouldnt resign, he didnt read his contract nor guidelines that control the job. Ford supporters will agree with me. Edited January 11, 2013 by guyser Quote
Boges Posted January 11, 2013 Report Posted January 11, 2013 (edited) The only law he broke was this conflict of interest law. And most believe the punishment for that is severe. It'll probably change soon. As for Spencer, when you're at school plagiarism is one of the worst crimes you can commit. I'm sure if he was in any number of other jobs, he wouldn't have been pressured to quit. Edited January 11, 2013 by Boges Quote

Boges Posted January 11, 2013 Report Posted January 11, 2013 (edited) I don't think Ford should be fired. Spencer was never fired but the optics are bad for a head teacher to plagerize. He sort of had to quit. Edited January 11, 2013 by Boges Quote
Boges Posted January 11, 2013 Report Posted January 11, 2013 How could you threaten to expell a student for plagerizism if you forgive Spence? Quote
