Black Dog Posted October 27, 2011 Report Posted October 27, 2011 That's actually not citing. That's stating an unsupported fact. Not that I disagree with you however. Fair enough: National GDP GTA GDP Quote
Boges Posted October 27, 2011 Report Posted October 27, 2011 (edited) Your tax dollars hard at work. Apparently for the dozen or so people that watch CBC, this story was wall to wall on CBC this morning. Good job checking your sources! http://www.torontosun.com/2011/10/27/mayor-ford-blasted-911-after-cbc-ambush TORONTO - Rob Ford didn’t use the word “bitch” during a 911 call when the CBC showed up at his home this week.CBC reported Thursday that Ford — alarmed by the CBC comedy show This Hour Has 22 Minutes trying to interview him in the driveway of his Etobicoke home — unleashed a torrent of swearing on the dispatchers that answered his 911 call Monday morning. But a source who heard the tape told the Sun Thursday that the mayor did not call anyone a “bitch” during the two times he called 911 or when a 911 operator called him back. The same sources were adamant Ford did not say “Rob fucking Ford.” But the sources did acknowledge the mayor repeated “This is Rob Ford, the mayor of Toronto,” several times. Wilber Posted October 27, 2011 Report Posted October 27, 2011 Canada's GDP is around $1.3 Billion. The GTA's GDP is around $323 billion. Do the math. Take your own advice. I think you may have a problem with decimal points. How can the GTA's GDP be 248 times that of the whole country? The GTA is part of Canada is it not? Boges Posted October 27, 2011 Report Posted October 27, 2011 Here's his full statement. "On Monday morning, I was ambushed in the driveway of my home by two people who rushed up to me screaming and waving at me, while I was trying to leave my home and get my daughter off to school. They prevented me from getting into my van and closing the door. Concerned for my safety and that of my family, I called 9-1-1 for help and retreated into my home. The two individuals fled to their black SUV and left before police arrived.""I later learned that the two individuals were part of a television comedy program. I remain concerned that their behaviour was traumatic for my daughter and in no way acceptable professional behaviour. They trespassed on my property and refused to leave when asked. They physically prevented me from leaving my property." "This morning, the same television network responsible for the comedy program published a report alleging that I made foul and derogatory comments towards the female 9-1-1 staff. That allegation is absolutely false." "When I made the 9-1-1 call, I was concerned and upset. I was repeatedly told police were arriving soon. In another call, I expressed frustration with the delay and said that I had to leave to go to City Hall. I did use the "f-word" at some point as I expressed my frustration with the situation. After being attacked in my driveway, I hope I can be excused for saying the f-word. I never called anyone any names. I apologize for expressing my frustration inappropriately." Quote

Black Dog Posted October 27, 2011 Report Posted October 27, 2011 If the mayor (who has a track record of making false statements) wants to clear this up, he'll ask his buddy Bill Blair to release the tapes of the call. Quote

Boges Posted October 27, 2011 Report Posted October 27, 2011 Another question that needs to be asked here. Sure we can all have a good chuckle about Old Mary Walsh making the mayor all scared. Who was the second man. Camera men aren't generally diminutive. So many assumptions have been made about this story. Quote

Who was the second man. Camera men aren't generally diminutive. So many assumptions have been made about this story. Are you suggesting the mayor of Toronto doesn't know what a cameraman looks like? Like you said: they're not usually small and they are also usually carrying rather large cameras. There's no winners here. CBC looks stupid and so does the mayor. Quote

cybercoma Posted October 27, 2011 Report Posted October 27, 2011 I like how all these other news sources are saying some anonymous police source is declaring this, while The Star says that it's actually his brother that made that statement: http://www.thestar.com/news/article/1076717--ford-s-911-call-not-as-bad-as-reported-brother-says?bn=1 Quote
cybercoma Posted October 27, 2011 Report Posted October 27, 2011 Oh and the rightfully question how his brother knows the details of the call. Quote
olp1fan Posted October 27, 2011 Report Posted October 27, 2011 I saw the vid.. it def was not 6 am... iam up at 6 am for work it was more like 8 or 9 am Quote
maladmin Posted October 27, 2011 Report Posted October 27, 2011 So what is the story with the 911 calls? Either Rob lost his rag and was abusive or CBC is guilty of reporting hearsay and rumor. The truth is in the recording, which apparently isn't going to be released. Since if the tape supported Robs story I am sure it would be made public I know who I believe. Quote
cybercoma Posted October 27, 2011 Report Posted October 27, 2011 Toronto Police spokesman Mark Pugash told the Star that the 911 tapes will not be released because “they are a private communication protected by law, and we won’t comment on what was said in the call because it is a private matter.” Funny how this Police source says they can't comment on it one way or the other. http://www.thestar.com/news/article/1076717--ford-admits-using-f-word-denies-insulting-9-1-1-operator Quote

It's been established that the CBC reported Hearsay. Unless they're the only ones that are right. He acknowledged that he was frustrated and might have dropped an F-bomb. But the initial CBC story had him calling her a bitch and having her going to the Union. Which led people, including posters here, to call him a misogynist. I think the CBC needed to get the issue of them harassing the guy at home out of the public eye so they found anything to make it about Ford again. Well that backfired because now the narrative is about their shitteh reporting. Perhaps Rob Ford can team up with Quebecor with in a Class Action Lawsuit for recent Libelous action Edited October 27, 2011 by Boges Quote

Black Dog Posted October 27, 2011 Report Posted October 27, 2011 It's been established that the CBC reported Hearsay. Unless they're the only ones that are right. It's still Ford (who acknowledges cussin') and his unnamed source versus the CBC and their unnamed source. The police aren't saying anything one way or the other. Quote

guyser Posted October 27, 2011 Report Posted October 27, 2011 (edited) Comedy Gold from his Lordship Ford continues. I see he has said he was 'attacked' , he wasn't , he was scared, he wasnt, his daughter was crying and outside, she wasn't , it was dark, it wasnt, he couldn't get into his car, he did, he called 911 from outside, he didnt . What is he going to do on Halloween night? Dial 911 every 2 minutes? "911 ? there is a goblin about 3 feet tall on my porch with some square spongey thing and Im scared" "give em some candy, they'll go away' 'but Im Rob Effing Ford ya female dog! " Like I said, too stupid to know how to win (and he would have won by standing still, smiling and then driving away.) CBC is guilty of bad choice to conduct the ambush, relying on 'witness' to the phone call...tsk tsk. I thought Mayor Mel was an embarassment , Slim has him beat by a mile! Shady Posted October 27, 2011 Report Posted October 27, 2011 I see you all are still busy chasing the shiny object. Meanwhile, construction continues on a power plant that McGuinty promised to shut down before the provincial election. Millions more tax dollars flushed down the toilet. But keep up with the Ford 911 call. It's damn important! McGuinty needs to resign right now. Quote

Shwa Posted October 27, 2011 Author Report Posted October 27, 2011 Do they file a union grievance everytime a caller gets mad at them or only when a Conservative politician does it? They should have called 9-1-1. Quote
