Shwa Posted October 25, 2011 Report Posted October 25, 2011 I suppose when you live in fear, and fear is around very corner and falling from the sky, being ambushed by "the press" outside your home could be disconcerting. Especially when you see a woman dressed in a red leather viking outfit, with a microphone. I doubt I would have called 911. But if I did, I would have stuck around until the police arrived. At least. Mayor Ford calls 911 on CBC comedians Mayor Rob Ford had a rough start to the week.He called 911 after being accosted outside his Etobicoke home around 8 a.m. on Monday as he was leaving for a council meeting at City Hall. The attackers turned out to be from the CBC comedy show This Hour Has 22 Minutes, which specializes in catching politicians unaware. By the time the police arrived, the TV crew and Ford had gone. According to a neighbour, a woman brandishing a microphone jumped out of a dark blue Jeep and ran yelling toward Ford’s driveway with a cameraman in tow. The woman was 22 Minutes alumna Mary Walsh, in character as her alter ego Marg Delahunty and dressed outlandishly as Marg, Warrior Princess, CBC spokesman Chris Ball confirmed. I would hate to think who Mayor Ford calls on Halloween. Quote

You know they do that in the private sector in the US a lot more effectively. It's called TMZ. Quote

You know they do that in the private sector in the US a lot more effectively. It's called TMZ. Apparently, they scared the hell out of his kid, setting it to crying. Marg should be ashamed of herself! If the CBC crew had had half a brain cell and were not just totally self-centred on their own interests they would have not ambushed Ford outside his home, with his kid! They could have picked a parking lot, where if anyone was with him they would likely be adult. Scaring his kid into tears was unnecessary and frankly, unforgiveable. No doubt the lefties will cry that since it was Ford's kid the poor rightwing tyke deserved it! Marg and her CBC crew were just unfeeling bastards and that's the long and the short of it. Boges Posted October 25, 2011 Report Posted October 25, 2011 (edited) Well other than the fact that it's not funny at all. When she's done this thing in the past it's the first time, I can recall, they've gone to a private residence to do it. Sorta like when The Star sent a reporter to the Ford's cottage during Pride week. Stay classy left-wing media. Edited October 25, 2011 by Boges Quote

Yes, he was so harrassed that he got in his car and tried to drive away first, even with a frightened kid in tow. Then he went back into his house to call 911. You know, because of that big, scary woman in the red leather viking dress with the microphone. Such a terrible thing! Run for the hills! The Big Bad CBC is here to do some comedy. Well, at least it wasn't Rick Mercer, eh? TMZ never does shit this good. Quote

All those frightened right-wingers, cowering under their blankies, afraid of being found out. LOL. Whatever happened to 'no such thing as bad publicity?' Quote

Boges Posted October 25, 2011 Report Posted October 25, 2011 According to Newtalk 1010 this morning former Mayor David Miller was really peeved that one of their producers called his home. I don't think Mayor Ford was really afraid, I just think he wanted to stick it these people that think it's cool to go to people's house and make fun of them. Quote

Yeah, he really stuck it to them alright. Not only free publicity, but we can see the Mayor and shiver and shrink from the mighty Marg because, no doubt, the cameras were rolling all the time. The CBC can expect increased ratings for that show in the Toronto market that's for sure. I can't wait. I hope they post it on YouTube first. Quote

You going to call her a pussy too? What do you mean "too?" I never called anyone a "pussy" get your posters straight. However, if he tried to drive away and then retreated back into the house, shrinking and trembling in fear from the terrible scourge of the Marg Delahunty, that would be something to see. And if he was all a-trembling, then he really didn't put a face of bravery on for his daughter now did he? Can't wait for the footage. Quote
Shady Posted October 25, 2011 Report Posted October 25, 2011 (edited) I think going to peoples homes is a bad idea. It's a practice that should really stop. Edited October 25, 2011 by Shady Quote
Boges Posted October 25, 2011 Report Posted October 25, 2011 I think going to peoples homes is a bad idea. It's a practice that should really stop. No question. But because the chattering classes don't like Rob Ford it's OK to do that. The CBC would never think of going to Dalton McGuinty's house. Never went to David Miller's house. Quote
fellowtraveller Posted October 25, 2011 Report Posted October 25, 2011 The thing that just shines through here is the malice of the OP. I doubt that Mary Walsh realized how wrong it is to accost people at their private residence, with their families present. They have plenty of time to do their schtick in public venues, guys like Ford are easily jumped every day in public places. It is less obvious why the OP and his/her subsequent posts are filled with such bitterness and hatred. Quote The government should do something.

Black Dog Posted October 25, 2011 Report Posted October 25, 2011 Maybe if Ford actually faced the media on a regular basis or publicly released his schedule like every other politician of his stature, they wouldn't have to ambush him at home. As for his reaction, well, I guess he needs to justifying caving to the police union somehow. Quote
