That is all the argument required to address your particular brand of backwater simplism. It really is quite easy. The "right" constaintly whining all the time about the "left" and how they are taking us to ruin, while at the same time enjoying the endless supply of benefits the "left" has brought to this country like government medical insurance.

It is noted that you admit to enjoying the benefits of our 'leftist' health care when you had options, but were to weak minded to follow through on your lofty principles.

So you believe that if you are a leftist you must be 100 percent leftist, no compromise, you can't think about a subject and consider it's merits, you must take the leftist view? So in other words you are a full on Marxist/communist, as are the others above.

What a child like view of the world, everything in moderation, i support health care and a whole host of other 'leftist' things, but that view point can be taken too far, and our politics has been dominated by the left or center left, a small correction might not be a bad thing. But hey, you aren't able to compromise on anything, you're a leftist so it's your way or the highway, meanwhile those of us who actually don't follow a simple minded ideology all of the time have been accepting leftist policies for years that we may or may not like. The gun registry would be one example. The new pot laws that i disagree with are another.

I see from the quotes that CR is challenging you to get private health care. This is the typical smarmy response when this is debated.

You CAN"T get private insurance! It's ILLEGAL in Canada! Why do they think that there are always conflicts over this and that private clinic charging extra fees?

We are in the company of Cuba and Angola as one of the very few countries with a government medicare program that at the same time made private care illegal. If a physician accepts your cash or credit card, he's off to the pokey!

Of course, once these folks have ensured that you have NO OTHER CHOICE but our government system, they take great delight in proposing that you perhaps should go to the back of the line for being too fat or engaging in risky recreations. After all, you cost the system more!

Meanwhile, our elected politicians in Ottawa can use the Veterans Hospital facilities at the drop of a hat. No waiting lines for them or their families! Or if they are rich enough they can go to the States, like Bob Rae did with his granny or Danny Williams for his heart operation.

The Occupy movement does not represent "the 99%," as its defenders like to claim. They are not a cadre speaking up for the vast proportion of the population against the tyranny or greed of an imagined "1%." Judging from the speakers I have seen and heard, either on news broadcasts or the multiple sites offering live-broadcast or YouTube coverage, the people in the various Occupy camps represent a petty sub-sample of the hard left; i.e., a range of angry students, homeless and their advocates, and - not insignificantly - some just outright strange people. Like the guy who asked for a moment of silence in "solidarity" with the man who earlier in the week fired shots at the White House and is now charged with trying to assassinate President Obama. The real 99% are surely not looking for solidarity with a potential assassin.
Nor are the real 99% looking for representation from self-selected tribunes who, almost by design, appear surly, wilful, unexposed to the complexities of life or politics, and who are almost as unbearably righteous as some of their predecessors in the anti-globalization movement. Charm is not a big property with the Occupy bunch. They bristle with contempt for those outside their precious circles, and enjoy a morbid, almost innate hatred for capitalism in so far as they may be said to understand it. Which is a lot less than the degree to which they are, in all their pseudo-rebellion, both its beneficiaries and offspring. What other system can you think of that offers "camping out" as a form of quasi-permissible political protest?

The lawns on which they park, the buildings in front of which they demonstrate, the mass media that gives them attention, the universities many of them attended - the very luxury that allows whole swathes of people to take two or three months, squat in a downtown park, and apparently live quite satisfactorily - all came from, or was enabled by, the system they thoughtlessly despise. Not to mention that all those iPhones and laptops, the backpacks and sneakers, the espresso machines and digital cameras didn't manufacture themselves. The Occupiers are only too comfortable using the products and the largesse of capitalism while railing against it.

These types of comments against a protest movement have been heard before in different ages; a sort of naive 'let them eat cake' sort of thing. If you understood the concept of 'the medium is the message' and how culture jamming works, you would likely understand a little better.

If you don't know what Occupy is about, you either haven't been paying attention or you're choosing to ignore it.

I keep hearing from people that Occupy Wall Street protests don’t have a clear message, so here is a short rundown of the “message” as far as I have seen.
It is time to TAX THE RICH

It is time to END THE WARS

It is time to restore Glass-Steagall

It is time to repeal Citizens United

It is time to get the money OUT OF POLITICS

It is time to invest in infrastructure and education

It is time to STOP busting labor unions, whether private or public

It is time to defend Medicare and Social Security tooth and nail from phony reforms or baloney cuts

It is time to STOP the spending cuts and start investing in America, and if we have to raise taxes on the rich and corporations in order to force them to invest in America, then so be it.

It is time to STOP the racist and discriminatory practice of “Stop and Frisk” and other tactics of racial profiling

It is time for civil rights for ALL, and that means equal rights for LGBT Americans to serve our military and marry whom ever they will

It is time for ACCOUNTABILITY for the men who lied us into war and crashed our economy

It is time for immigration reform that does not punish workers, but provides a clear pathway to citizenship for everyone

It is time for investigations that lead to prosecutions on Wall Street in response to the crimes that have been committed in the last decade.

It is time for a serious discussion about the Federal Reserve and it’s role in this economic disaster

It is time for universal health care that everyone can afford. It is time to talk about Single Payer Health Care.

It is time for alternative green energy instead of Oil and Coal.

It is time to protect our civil liberties and our constitution.

It is time for a discussion about free trade and how it has undermined the working class while enriching only the wealthiest among us.

It is time to end corporate personhood.

There are sooooo many things that need to be fixed, reformed and addressed, and this short list does not do justice to the many grievances that the 99% have, but we must accept the fact that the GOP only serves the rich and the Dem Establishment only serves to cave to the GOP. They are NOT going to help us. We are going to have to do this ourselves.

It is time to have the BIG conversation about what kind of country we want America to be, and the lobbyists and corrupt career politicians and the corrupt corporate media are NOT going to hijack our conversation. Do we want America to be a nation where 1 out of 5 children live in poverty while the wealthiest among us get ever more wealthy and more powerful? Do we want to live in a nation with crumbling infrastructure that can only reward the rich with ever decreasing tax rates while our schools go unfunded? Do we want to live in a country that can always fund these never ending wars but must cut spending on everything else?

When students covered their eyes with their clothing, police forced open their mouths and pepper-sprayed down their throats. Several of these students were hospitalized. Others are seriously injured. One of them, forty-five minutes after being pepper-sprayed down his throat, was still coughing up blood.

If you don't know what Occupy is about, you either haven't been paying attention or you're choosing to ignore it.

Now you should be up to speed.

The rich pay more taxes than anyone else does.

Without money their would be no politics at all. A lawless society without order. No thank you.

We invest in infrastructure and education at an ever growing rate. These two budgets get higher every year.

If labour unions are breaking the law they need to be held to account. They aren't above the law.

It's the rich corporations who employ millions of people in US. They could easily move to another country to pay less tax. Millions out of work. raising their taxes doesn't sound so good now does it?

Illegal immigration is a serious problem. Their is a clear path to citizenship however many don't wish to follow it.
