Topaz Posted May 17, 2011 Report Posted May 17, 2011 The Danes are getting their military to concentrate on the five areas around the Faeroe Island and Greenland and the North Pole. Why?? All in the name of oil and gas. Is peace all of sudden out of style? Can they reach a peacefully answer to this, like they will share? Ok, Harper show Canadians how to/not start another war! scouterjim Posted May 17, 2011 Report Posted May 17, 2011 Denmark is a signatory of the Arctic Treaty, which says that "No state bordering the arctic shall place a claim upon the North Pole area". That treaty was also signed by Canada, the US, Russia, Iceland, and Norway. Mind you, Canada and Russia have already claimed the North Pole, so why not Denmark? As for Harper’s “friends in DC”, why would he go to them? We have disputes with United States over the arctic. Quote

Guest Derek L Posted May 18, 2011 Report Posted May 18, 2011 At the North Pole shelf, the Danes (and Canadians) will find iron weighted garbage cans ejected from American submarines. Exactly, which is why I feel the AOPS program should be canceled, the surface fleet should be reduced by three hulls and the Victoria class SSK should be replaced with 6-8 nuke boats. The beauty about SSN, they wouldn’t have to be in the arctic, to defend it. Quote

Scotty Posted May 19, 2011 Report Posted May 19, 2011 John Baird is now foreign minister. Those poor Danes... Quote It is an inverted moral calculus that tries to persuade the world to demonize one state that tries its civilized best to abide in a difficult time and place, and rides merrily by the examples and practices of dozens of states and leaderships that drop into brutality every day without a twinge of regret or a whisper of condemnation. - Rex Murphy
