Harper: Republican Wannabe

Recommended Posts

You didn't exactly ace Statistics 101, did you?

Certainly explains some of the complaints from the left if that is the kind of number crunching they do!

They aren't dishonest, they just don't understand basic math!

..that's pretty much socialism in a nutshell anyway, isn't it?

And I find it funny that the guy with the itchiest "Report button" trigger-finger on the whole forum is complaining that somebody else is pointing out that the forum has rules.

What? Are you referring to me?

Yah why not...kind of like sucking up to the bully in the school yard...a wise career move - why don't we just get it over with and send the federal mob protection money and all will be well.

Lead the way and send yours.

Harper's speech as NCC President to the Council for National Policy, a right-wing American political organization, in Montreal in June 1997 — is often cited as a testament

Fourteen year old quotes, most of which I completely agree with. So?

I find it funny that words from Mr Ignatieff keep coming back up here and in CPC attack ads, yet the booster club here has issue with Mr Harpers words being brought back. It's a timely and pertinent (and somewhat horrifying) reminder of how this man really feels.

Why would that be?

Horrifying? Are you Swedish, by chance?

Aren't you the guy who campaigned to the mods to make "Mr Dithers" a bannable offense and been tattling on people for nicknames you don't care for ever since? Have I got you confused with somebody else? I apologize if I have.

All the righties coming out of the woodwork to stand up for their "Dear Leader" and the sanctity of the "rules and regulations"...

Tell it to SunTV and blame the "Liberal Media Bias"...

Maybe I should just start spamming the board with threads cut-and-pasted from random anti-Liberal websites and forums, just to see how fast you two guys change your tune.

There are plenty of anti-Harper threads here on the forum, and I haven't complained about any of them, except for these two. So it's just plain stupid for you to try and spin this like I'm just complaining because somebody posted a thread against Harper. I'm complaining because this is spam.

I've got a long and well-proven history of intelligent discussions with people I don't agree with. It's pretty laughable that I'm being called out by a guy who's proven that he's incapable of contributing anything more than "SUNTV LOLOL NEP LOLOLOL TICATS KEITH MOON!!!"

Agreed. Using 1997 NCC material to try to attack Harper only gets traction with the people that already would never vote for him anyway.

First, these are the position statements of a think tank. Think tank's jobs are to throw partisan ideas against the wall to see what sticks. It seldom has anything to do with what they actually believe, just an exercise to see what floats. They aren't running for office, and they aren't writing personal memoirs either. Do you think that everyone at the Fraser Institute or the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives actually believes every word in their official campaigns? They are alternative policies for the express purpose of being alternative.

Second, much of what Harper said resonates well with conservative leaning voters anyway. The 40%+ of the Canadian public that are telling pollsters that they will vote CPC actually like many of the things he said in 1997. About 90% of it is right on the money in my book.

Well the conservatives definitely shadow the US republican tea baggers. People still don't have it enough bad enough to go more liberals. You only gotta look to the south to see what conservative politics do. If you ask me, Jack Layton's plan to give tax cuts to businesses will surly create more jobs than Harper's corporate suck ups. Corporations do not create jobs, they destroy jobs, thats how they get rich/

little on teabaggers :)

Its posts like this that show us the entitled mentality that has resulted in the usa mortgage crisis and people with excessive credit card debt.

I suggest people who make blanket statements like this regarding the business sector to google "by word of mouse" made by warner bros, its only 8 min long. It stars two mice and sylvester the cat. If kids in the 50s can understand economics I'm sure grown canadian left wingers can.

Actually studies have shown that it was mostly predatory lending, loan sharks, and mortgage fraud caused by the institutions them selfs. Surly, some people are responsible but certainly not the majority, or those who just didnt understand the fine print. Lack of regulations is all it is. Now, let's see who we can blame the crisis on - oh yah, teachers! lol. I can only agree to further tax cuts to corporations if we start taxing the rich! You can throw ur ideology all u want, but the wealth gap is increasing, and that's only a fact, I know the right wingers do not like facts.
