  1. And now the real story:) Steve Harper has a heart attack and dies. He goes to hell where the devil is waiting for him. "I don't know what to do here," says the devil. "You're on my list but I have no room for you, but you definitely have to stay here, so I'll tell you what I'm going to do. I've got 3 people here who weren't quite as bad as you. I'll let one of them go, but you have to take their place. I'll even let YOU decide who leaves." Steve thought that sounded pretty good, so he agreed. The devil opened the door to the first room. In it was former President Richard Nixon and a large pool of water. Nixon kept diving in and surfacing gasping for air, then immediately diving back into the water again over and over and over. Such was his fate in hell. "No!" Steve said. "I don't think so. I'm not a good swimmer and I don't think I could do that all day long." The devil led him to the next room. In it was British Prime Minister Tony Blair with a sledgehammer and a room full of rocks. All he did was swing that hammer, time after time after time. "No way! I've got this problem with my shoulder. It would be constant agony if all I could do was break rocks all day!" commented Steve. The devil opened the third door. In it, Steve saw Jack Layton lying naked in a rub and tug. Bent over him was s asian lady named Jade, doing what she does best. Steve Harper looked at this in disbelief for awhile and finally said, "Yeah I could handle this." The devil smiled and said . . . "Jade you're free to go...
  2. The true winner in this debate is Elizabeth May....cause she didnt have to participate in this snooze fest Return of the living dead!
  3. Does Harper have a cucumber up his butt......what a stiff....looks like a wind up toy.
  4. Maybe Harper should of thought of that before he said "We could also have a debate between Mr. Ignatieff and myself because, after all, the real choice in this election is a choice between a Conservative government or an Ignatieff-led government that all of these other parties will support," said Harper
  5. The wrong time to cut corporate taxes http://www.nationalpost.com/opinion/wrong+time+corporate+taxes/4344345/story.html
  6. Which can also be achieved by the middle income earners spending their hard earned dollars and buying the corporations products which cause hiring to keep up with demand. Why does the tax break have to goto buisness first to decide how its spent.
  7. I think they are saying they will save $6 billion by canceling the corporate tax cut(Under the minority Conservative watch, the federal corporate tax rate has dropped from 22% to its present 16.5% level, and is set for one last cut next year, to 15%.) which is different from raising corporate taxes. And use this to fund there campaign promises.
  8. Is there an unwritten rule that says giving tax breaks to families, middle income earners wont stimulate the economy and create jobs....we have done the trickle down thing how about trying trickle up.I know if more money finds its way in my pocket the corporation will end up getting it.
  9. Yep....but only after the budget is balanced.
  10. Is this guy real....is all his campaign promises going to take effect after budget is balanced? How about The Harper Government if wins a majority wont take power till budget is balanced. http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/politics/stephen-harper-offers-new-fitness-tax-credit/article1968824/
  11. As I stated....cant take credit for the math as i was using Harpers formula on purchasing f-35's
  12. Not sure of how you came up with those numbers....lets look at it..41% not scared of cp and 70% scared of libs =111% that dont work now lets try this....41% not scared of cp and 84% scared of ndp = 125%...nope dont work either hmmm ok lets try this...41% not scared of cp and 59% scared of cp = 100% yep that works So there you have it. Sorry if this is confusing....I am using the same formula as Harper is using on purchasing F-35 Lightning II.
  13. Does that mean 59% of Canadians are scared?
  14. Scare tactics?....does the truth scare you?
  15. Oh sorry.....Never saw the rule that states: No derogatory posts against Stephen Harper
  16. Not a paid advert...just refreshing peoples memory.
  17. Same place as I cut and pasted this. In January 1997, Stephen Harper quit his Parliamentary seat and was named Vice-President of the NCC the same day. NCC has campaigned prominently on many libertarian, anti-worker and anti-public service issues over the years including: # campaigns to "de-unionize" the workforce; # opposition to fair tax reform; # privatization and/or elimination of public sector services; # discredit any activity carried out through the public sector such as education or health care; # court challenges to social unionism; # "closed shop" provisions in Canadian labour law; # lobbying campaign to have "right-to-work" legislation implemented in Alberta; # legal and advertising support for challenges to Canadian Wheat Board; # court challenge to annul election of BC NDP government, advertising campaigns against targeted politicians and parties; # media campaign attacking MP pensions; # court challenges to electoral laws that would limit third party spending; # media campaign attacking grants for the arts, advocacy organizations, and social science research; # attacks on public funding for what it calls "interest groups" such as human rights or women's groups.
  18. Harper's speech as NCC President to the Council for National Policy, a right-wing American political organization, in Montreal in June 1997 — is often cited as a testament of his true political colours. In this speech, the text of which is available online, he enunciates his extreme political views more clearly than is common for him to do currently. Some prominent quotes form the speech include: * "In terms of the unemployed, of which we have over a million-and-a-half, don't feel particularly bad for many of these people. They don't feel bad about it themselves, as long as they're receiving generous social assistance and unemployment insurance." * "[W]e have a Supreme Court, like yours, which, since we put a charter of rights in our Constitution in 1982, is becoming increasingly arbitrary." * "[The pride Canadians take in their country's status at the UN] distresses conservatives like myself quite profoundly, but I will warn you, it's a widespread view, and I will always say, one that could only be maintained as long as [Americans] basically provide us with military protection." * He called the Reform Party a "conservative Republican" organization that espoused "a constitutional agenda that challenges the way our entire political system operates." * He predicted that the Reform and Progressive Conservative parties would ultimately merge and "[o]ne party is going to win out.... And Reform is not going to lose that contest in the long term." * "If you've read any of the official propagandas, you've come over the border and entered a bilingual country. In this particular city, Montreal, you may well get that impression. But this city is extremely atypical of this country... So it's basically an English-speaking country, just as English speaking as, I would guess, the northern part of the United States." * "Canada is a Northern European welfare state in the worst sense of the term, and very proud of it. Canadians make no connection between the fact that they are a Northern European welfare state and the fact that we have very low economic growth, a standard of living substantially lower than yours, a massive brain drain of young professionals to your country, and double the unemployment rate of the United States." * "[Y]our country [the USA], and particularly your conservative movement, is a light and an inspiration to people in this country and across the world."
  19. Here is a handy summary of Harper's sins, adapted by C. Davis from a list apparently compiled by Frances Ricks, Ph.D.: Mr. Harper.... - Breached his own fixed election laws -Taxed income trusts despite a pre-election promise not to tax them - Didn't answer the allegations he bribed Chuck Cadman to vote with the harper party - Produced a guide to disrupting parliamentary committees - Several of his ministers have misled parliament (Clements, MacKay and Oda) - Prorogued parliament twice to avoid defeat in the House - Found in contempt of parliament 3 times - Muzzled his ministers and MPs - Sacked or forced resignation of public servants who tried to do their jobs rather than kowtowing to him (e.g. Linda Keen for insisting on safety standards at Chalk River, Munir Sheikh of Stats Can, many others) - Cancelled the long form census which provides vital data to businesses and others, spending more of our money to do so - Leads the most secretive government in Canadian history - After inheriting a surplus, created the largest deficit in our country`s history - Continues to claim credit for "strong economy" whose strength actually comes from Liberal surplus and Liberal refusal to gut banking regulations (Harper supported deregulation) - Insisted there was no economic crisis, took action only under intense pressure from opposition, media - Spent $1.2 billion on G-8, including fake lake while his police brutally assaulted peaceful demonstrators and observers, including women and an aging civil servant - Wants to spend $10 billion on prisons for unreported criminals, although crime rate continues its long decline - Wants to spend $18 – 30 billion on planes that have yet to be built, and no case made for why we need them - Spent $100 million advertising what a wonderful a leader he is, and thereby bought much support from the media - Has ignored climate change and earned Canada more environmental "fossil" awards than any prior Prime Minister - Has tarnished Canada's international reputation to the extent that we were denied a seat on the UN Security Council - Persistently concealed information about the abuse of Afghan detainees - By losing the rights to use Camp Mirage, endangered our troops and and cost $300 million - Bribed two provinces to bring in the Harper Sales Tax against the wishes of the people - Gave a standing ovation to a minister who misled parliament and forged a document - Appointed two senators who had 67 forged invoices, falsely claiming tax rebates for election expenses. - His staff is being investigated by police about 3 separate incidents - Is a control freak who has constantly demonstrated his contempt for parliament and the 2/3 of Canadians who have voted against him. If he were to get a majority he would act to gut health care, the CBC and other quintessential Canadian institutions - as he already has the census. Vote anybody but Harper
  20. Breaking news:Liberals already giving up in Alberta as Harper becomes President of Alberta!
  21. OPPS Im bad.......look...are we arguing over unions or bang for our buck...open your mind and lets make sensible choices not party line choices...my business rely on a skilled work force that you cannot find on a street corner.
  22. They still are here.....somethings never change....
  23. Don't want to gloat Yukon.....it's about finding a solution that will work for both sides. I use to have a company that was non union......went unionized and has been a huge benifit...have a trained labour pool available when needed for shutdowns....sometimes 35 men for a 2 day shutdown.....all workers produce certificates for whmis, manlift, fall arrest, and other training that is paid for and supplied by local unions....the labour pool is far better trained and available then i could hope for then when i was non union doing it myself.......i never thought that this would work out for my company .....but i have to say i am far better off today than i was before.
