Topaz Posted March 19, 2011 Report Posted March 19, 2011 The US and the UK have launched 112 tomahawk crusie missiles in Libya from their ships and subs. So now we have another war and I guess this could postpone an election this spring, unless its a mini war. http://ca.news.yahoo.com/us-navy-vessels-launch-missile-strike-against-gadhafis-20110319-130851-879.html Quote

It will spread past Libya, just a matter of time. Quote

Shady Posted March 20, 2011 Report Posted March 20, 2011 This could be ended very quickly, and with little blood shed. All that's required is a well timed, well placed missile on Ghaddafi's home, or known location. Quote

All that's required is a well timed, well placed missile on Ghaddafi's home, or known location. This has been tried before. And failed. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bombing_of_Libya The attacks failed to kill Gaddafi. Forewarned by a telephone call from Malta's Prime Minister, Karmenu Mifsud Bonnici, that unauthorized aircraft were flying over Maltese airspace heading south towards Tripoli, Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi and his family rushed out of their residence in the Bab al-Azizia compound moments before the bombs dropped. According to Giulio Andreotti (the 42nd Prime Minister of Italy) and Abdel Rahman Shalgham (Libya's Foreign Minister from 2000 until 2009), Italian politician Bettino Craxi was the person who actually warned Gaddafi.[12] Quote
bush_cheney2004 Posted March 20, 2011 Report Posted March 20, 2011 Woulda got him in 1986 but for a warning from Italy that gave Ghaddfi time to hide. Check all the spider holes in Libya! Quote Economics trumps Virtue.

Now they are and they deserve some support for having to live under that asshole for so long. Quote "Never trust a man who has not a single redeeming vice". WSC

SF/PF Posted March 20, 2011 Report Posted March 20, 2011 Like Ben-Ali of Tunisia? Like Mubarak of Egypt? Millions? How about billions? Theres no need to let them take their whole fortune, though. Just enough that leaving is seen as an opion. Though in the case of uncle Moe, he is probably crazy enough to stay and fight anyway. As a more general rule, I think our fixation with "making dictators pay" for their actions just gets a lot more innocent people killed.
