bush_cheney2004 Posted March 7, 2011 Report Posted March 7, 2011 And the beat (down) goes on....President Obama has reversed himself on military tribunals at 'Gitmo. That's one small step for President Bush...one giant leap for President Obama. President Obama on Monday ordered that military commission trials be resumed at Guantánamo Bay. The move represents a defeat for Obama, who pledged to close the terrorist detention facility in Cuba within one year of taking office. The president had hoped to hold trials in federal court for many of the detainees, but ran into stiff opposition from both parties. The decision will be a disappointment for liberals already upset with Obama’s political compromises. That faction received a second blow Monday when Defense Secretary Robert Gates told The Associated Press that troops could remain in Afghanistan beyond the 2014 date advocated by Obama. http://thehill.com/homenews/administration/147871-obama-military-commissions-to-resume-for-gitmo-detainees Quote Economics trumps Virtue.

Shady Posted March 8, 2011 Report Posted March 8, 2011 Figures, I've never doubted my sense that Obama was a fake. Complete waste of skin. Or perhaps, you're just wrong regarding this issue. Always have been. Quote
BubberMiley Posted March 8, 2011 Report Posted March 8, 2011 Or perhaps Congress wouldn't allow the detainees to be tried on U.S. soil. <BING> I win. Quote "I think it's fun watching the waldick get all excited/knickers in a knot over something." -scribblet
sharkman Posted March 8, 2011 Report Posted March 8, 2011 Didn't Obama have a Dem majority for 2 years? He rammed Obamacare through, but he couldn't get Gitmo shut down? Really? Quote
