I can hardly believe these Republicans. Why must the discourse always seem to be dragged to this sort of level. I don't think there is any question that obeisity is a huge and growing issue in the US (North America actually) and this is the sort of response we get from the right? Political points at any cost?

Because that's how you get to be and maintain #1 Arbitron ratings in American radio markets for many, many years.

It's a response to Michelle Obama's insistence on telling everyone what they can eat and what they cannot eat. She's the definition of nanny-state.

Professor,please stay on topic...

Isn't the topic your hypocrisy? Singling out one set of protesters, while giving a pass to another? All over politics. Yeah, that's what I thought. I'd wanna move on to another topic if I were you too.

What a load of bull. She's done no such thing, and by insisting so, you look just as laughable as the commentators attempting to perpetuate the myth.

Well, when you put it that way, the morbidly obese drug addict's criticism of her appearance and eating habits makes total sense.

Oh wait: no it doesn't.

Nope...

I took it as more cryptic bigotry from a right wing blowhard...

You and spambot must be beyond the reach of reason if you don't see why the differences here.

What are the differences between Wisconsin protesters calling Walker Hitler, Mussolini, Mubarak, and drawing gun targets over him and the few signs at Tea Party protests? Please enlighten us. :)

So what we have learned from this is that you don't really know what the phrase "nanny state" means. Promoting healthy food choices /= telling everyone what they can eat and what they cannot eat (which implies some kind of coercive measures.)

We were talking about chimpanzees. Focus.

No, perhaps you don't really know what the phrase "nanny state" means.

WASHINGTON — After wrapping her arms around the retail giant Wal-Mart and trying to cajole food makers into producing nutrition labels that are easier to understand, Michelle Obama, the first lady and a healthy-eating advocate, has her sights set on a new target: the nation’s restaurants.

It's one thing to campaign for healthy food choices. It's quite another thing to pressure and cajole food makers, and now private restaurants to conform to her food and nutrition opinions.

There is no intellectual capacity in him to do so....

You may as well ask a leopard to change its spots...

 It all depends on your source. By many accounts, Wal Mart stepped up to the plate. Really, though, I don't see the problem. If we can make the same food with less salt and fat (and the Canadian Government is currently trying to bring in legislation to force) then I don't see the drawback.

This is unbelievable.
