pinko Posted March 12, 2011 Report Posted March 12, 2011 This thread is not about unions or labor movement in Canada. But either way, both are corrupt, have been corrupt, and will always be corrupt (as much as any "capitalist"). Canada has one of the most corrupt organized labor systems in the world! No wonder you are so damn worried about what is happening in another country. Were you born stupid or do you just practice at being stupid? Quote
bush_cheney2004 Posted March 12, 2011 Report Posted March 12, 2011 Were you born stupid or do you just practice at being stupid? Not stupid enough to join a corrupt union in Canada or Wisconsin. I guess you need that kind of corrupt protection...I don't. Quote Economics trumps Virtue.

Sure...it's only the "capitalists" that are corrupt. LOL! Many unions in Canada are corrupt but you just refuse to admit it. What you do with your life is your business. That's right...and I choose not to be dependent on very corrupt labor unions. No wonder you are all over this story like white on rice. Quote Economics trumps Virtue.

You say many unions in canada are corrupt, right? Name them. Quote
Topaz Posted March 13, 2011 Report Posted March 13, 2011 Lets say for the purpose of debate we got rid of ALL unions and then companies would only be paying minimum wages and that would go for state and provincial unions too. The governments and the companies wouldn't pay for benefits either. So now you have people working for 10.25hrly with no benefits. and the same in the US depending on the states hourly wage. Don't you think the economies of these governments would nosedive? All those people with mortgages would have to sell their homes, no one could afford to shop cause they would have much money. No one would visit the dentist, the eye doctor or even the family doctor. Besides, that it would be the end to the middle-class as we know it. Whatever the unions get paid and the benefits they have is because the party they are talking to agreed to the terms. Most people who bash unions are usually the ones wanted to work for one but didn't. Quote

pinko Posted March 13, 2011 Report Posted March 13, 2011 Up to 100,000 protest Wisconsin law curbing unions By James B. Kelleher MADISON, Wis., March 12 (Reuters) - Up to 100,000 people protested at the Wisconsin state Capitol on Saturday against a new law curbing the union rights of public workers that is seen as one of the biggest challenges in decades facing U.S. organized labor. Madison police spokesman Joel DeSpain estimated the crowd at 85,000 to 100,000 people, which would top the size of protests in Madison during the Vietnam War. http://www.reuters.com/article/2011/03/13/usa-wisconsin-idUSN1227540420110313 Quote
