Wild Bill Posted September 28, 2010 Report Posted September 28, 2010 Thats hardly a slag WB. The sheer number of bands looking for a gig in TO , any gig, means that band will take whats offered. If they can get a $100 and a bar bill, they're happy. I bet they pay more in Timmins .....they have to . Why else would any band go there ? Geez, this is the best slag youve got, Im disappointed WB. You're better than this. You misunderstand me. I'm not one of those posters who delights in ever more witty ad hominems. I simply post what I believe, although I will admit to putting my tongue in my cheek once in a while. I cited Toronto as a cheapskate city for musicians because that's one area that is important to me, among fields that to me are just irrelevant. I will confess to a bulge in my cheek as I wrote it, guyser! Still, I believe it and in a small way I think it indicative of the character of the city. I don't buy into the old idea that Toronto is the financial heart of Canada. When I was an on the road salesman I didn't have a single account in old Toronto. Everything was north of the 401 in the suburbs. Manufacturers had virtually all pulled out of the old city, chased away by bad traffic access and high taxes. True, there are some large corporate HQs that deal only with the accounting aspects but they are far fewer than they used to be. Much of that has moved out west! Toronto reminds me of an old whore who has long since lost much of her looks but still insists on getting her ass kissed! The character is that bar owners can get away with it, the same way the rest of Canada wishes they couldf to improve the bottom line. Dont buy into it, just know that it is fact. The money for this country used to flow thru Montreal, but since the 70s that changed and it is TO now.Every major financial tranasction has TO fingerprints on it.Very little has moved out west. In my field, any new players to Canada come here first, then spread out . It is indicative of the the way business runs. The onjly caveat is some of the oil money stays and circulates out west, but even they come to TO for the really big deals. Quote

Well, if they're going to come to Toronto they better start getting used to coming by helicopter. One or two more mayors like Miller and NO ONE will be ABLE to drive a car to Toronto! We'll all simply be tolled for trying to get AROUND the perimeter of the city to other parts of the province. I see gridlock and roadblock as Toronto's future. guyser Posted September 29, 2010 Report Posted September 29, 2010 I see gridlock and roadblock as Toronto's future. Wild Bill, the future is now. We have that. And the reason we have that is too many councils for this city were myopic, along with the Provincial Premiers we have had, beginning with the idiot William Davis. Had the engineers had their way, we would all be moving around far easier than we do. And of courzse, Rob Ford wouldnt be able to spout his lil marathon bon mots. Quote

You're getting creamed in at least two separate threads on this by all comers to the point where you're repeating your content-free posts and you have the audacity to claim victory? Priceless. Quote

Your MO is to call people stupid, while at the same time mispelling your post and using improper grammar! Priceless. Perhaps you should look in the mirror before you utter such assertions. Quote

Except probably your pants. Just the level of discourse I've come to expect from you. I'd point out the parts on this and the other municipal election thread where i've dissected parts of Ford's platform, but you'd just continue to ignore them and bleat your pitiful one liners. It's quite comical, really. Quote
Shady Posted September 30, 2010 Report Posted September 30, 2010 Just the level of discourse I've come to expect from you. Aww, you don't like the discourse? How about this discourse? Rob Ford is a fuckin' moron his followers, after all, can't read. I fail to see how electing a complete and utter cretin helps matters. You've got a lot of nerve complaining about discourse. You're a glittering jewel of hypocrisy. So now the baby doesn't much care for the discourse. Tough shit. You reap what you sow. I'm also reminded of the time you posted something about Sarah Palin's vagina. And now you're the f*cking discourse police! Puuuuuulease. Quote
Dog Posted September 30, 2010 Report Posted September 30, 2010 Much as you see on this thread look for the queers to get more and more pissy as we get closer to the election and they see that their queen is going to lose . Quote

Again: while i certainly would be the first to admit to juvenile name calling (when in Rome...) it's important not to be a one-note poster, which is why I use my attacks on Rob Ford's weight and his followers intellect (though in the latter case, it's less insulting than it is a mere statement of fact) as colour for my posts on his actual platform. It suits you to focus on the insults, though, because it enables you to avoid a debate on the issues in which you would be hopelessly out of your depth. Indeed, my insults actually help you: they are a bone for a toothless old cur to gum on because he's too weak to hunt. Quote

Michael Hardner Posted October 1, 2010 Report Posted October 1, 2010 Wow...Classy... I see you're near Lake Simcoe... Big fan of "nipper" tipping??? Oddly, 'Queer' has been reclaimed as a good word to use. So those who use it disparagingly are an order of magnitude out of date...
