So if Islam is just so evil, why is the issue about not building a mosque around ground zero rather than just banning Islam altogether? If that's the issue, then what's the difference whether the mosque is built on spot A or spot B?

I just think Islam kind of sucks. I don't think it should be banned. There's lots of things I think suck but would not ban.

I also don't think any of us are actually arguing that the mosque near the WTC should not be allowed to be built, I think those of us who don't support it just think the guys who are building it are a bunch of dicks and that nothing good will come of this.

Because that's NOT the issue. The issue is building on property that's only available because of the destructive/murderous attacks by other Muslims. That's the objection/issue regarding this mosque. One mosque. That's why there's a difference if the mosque is built on spot A, available only because of 9-11, or spot B, that has nothing to do with 9-11. Are you finally starting to get it?

I thinks its wounderful, Islam is a great religion that adds to our diversity. We should be thankful to have so many muslims, they raise the cultural level of our democracy in canada with their good values. We can learn alot from the cultures where this religion sprang...

That's kinda how i feel. The community centre/mosque being built so close to the WTC seems very much like these particular Muslims are just thumbing their nose at non-Muslim New Yorkers/Americans.

As for Islam, i'm not a huge fan of any religion, but Islam is probably the most f'ed up of all the major world religions. But i still make a huge distinction between the extremists that kill civilians and the majority of peaceful Muslims.

I think the biggest point missing in this argument is that Islam is not just a religion. It is a just as much a political force.

As long as Islam remains theocratic then it does not fall entirely under the category of a religion and it's political aspirations can be legitimately ruled upon. The form of the American government must be upheld. The Constitutional form of government in the US doesn't fit the description of theocracy, totalitarian state, socialist state, dictatorship or for that matter social democracy.

The building of a Mosque at ground zero would be, in my view, a political statement of Islam, if it were a religious statement then the emotional concerns of others regarding the location would be enough to consider and discuss alternatives. Those unwilling to discuss options or address the concerns of others are making a political statement. Politics is about force, not reason. Islam is not averse to using force to get it's way.

And for those who would say that Christians are not averse to using force I just point to the fact there are no Christian armies or factions, other than the odd deluded individual, that will use force.

They, as a religion, have abrogated the use of force and relegated it to the proper province of government, as should Islam.

I want to be in the class that ensures the classless society remains classless.

I'd also like to express my admiration for Islam. I'm always impressed by the way they're able to get women to fall in line and accept their status as second-class citizens. :rolleyes:

I dont know what rabble.ca is... I beleive in equality, and I hate racists, and I'll fight racism and intolerance and statements of bigotry when I see them.

I think that the less european we are, the better, we benefit from having muslims live here, they enrich our lives and come from great cultures... western culture is racist, homophobic, anti-democratic, pro-slavery, elitist, pro nazi, hateful and toxic.

um hello? fascism is a european invention, and muslim culture has a different outlook on homosexuality, a0& and the mainstream muslims tolerate them.

to call muslims fascist, is itself fascistic and racist.
