bjre Posted June 10, 2010 Report Posted June 10, 2010 'Dirty dozen' produce carries more pesticide residue, group says http://www.cnn.com/2010/HEALTH/06/01/dirty.dozen.produce.pesticide/index.html (CNN) -- If you're eating non-organic celery today, you may be ingesting 67 pesticides with it, according to a new report from the Environmental Working Group. The group, a nonprofit focused on public health, scoured nearly 100,000 produce pesticide reports from the U.S. Department of Agriculture and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to determine what fruits and vegetables we eat have the highest, and lowest, amounts of chemical residue. Most alarming are the fruits and vegetables dubbed the "Dirty Dozen," which contain 47 to 67 pesticides per serving. These foods are believed to be most susceptible because they have soft skin that tends to absorb more pesticides. "It's critical people know what they are consuming," the Environmental Working Group's Amy Rosenthal said. "The list is based on pesticide tests conducted after the produce was washed with USDA high-power pressure water system. The numbers reflect the closest thing to what consumers are buying at the store." Guest TrueMetis Posted June 10, 2010 Report Posted June 10, 2010 Scientifically tested pesticides or Melamine. Wonder which one is safer. Quote

bjre Posted June 11, 2010 Author Report Posted June 11, 2010 (edited) Scientifically tested pesticides or Melamine. Wonder which one is safer. Melamine is something that too far away. Fruits and vegetables are something that are just in sandwiches in the shops here and that come from America and have chance to enter your body each day. I wonder if any Canadian produced fruits and vegetables been scientifically tested and what is the result? bush_cheney2004 Posted June 11, 2010 Report Posted June 11, 2010 ...I wonder if any Canadian produced fruits and vegetables been scientifically tested and what is the result? Don't worry....all Canadian fruits and vegetables are pure as the virgin snow. But the beef...that's another story! LOL! Quote Economics trumps Virtue.
GostHacked Posted June 11, 2010 Report Posted June 11, 2010 Melamine is something that too far away. Actually it is (was) right there on the shelf in the grocery store in baby formula of all things. That might only be an isle or two away from the produce section. Fruits and vegetables are something that are just in the shops here that come from America and have chance to enter your body each day. I wonder if any Canadian produced fruits and vegetables been scientifically tested and what is the result? All our food is treated with chemicals. Even stuff that is claimed to be 'organic' has some form of pesticides used on it. It's a major reason why we are able to mass produce food the way we do. Pesticides and hormones. Quote

Need to use Canadian high-power pressure water system...much better than USDA. Quote Economics trumps Virtue.
